That sux, it can be frustrating... bolt ons will only do about .5 though... and its so damn expensive to get your times down by a sugnificant amount....
That's why it's only worth it to invest the money in show, rather than go.
What I'm saying is you can put $1000 into your engine, and make VERY VERY little gains, or you can put $1000 into the exterior of your car and make it look like nothing else on the road.

i agree, im fixing this dent and then im selling this baby ...eventually
I realized its basicly point less to try and make a 4g lude competitive these days. Sure it's still a great handeling, great looking car and I love it. But, with the new crop of high-HP econo-cars hitting the market in the next few years, I decided NOT to mod my lude and invest the money instead. By the time I'm ready for a new car, the $2000 I invested (instead of buying bolt ons) will be a hefty downpayment on one of the new-fangled turbo charged small cars on teh market (maybe 4 years down the road).
Just a Question to all: Why did you buy your car in the first place...to go fast and have quick 1/4 mile times or to have a great looking car that handles good???
Personally, I have accepted that i drive a slow car, but to me it doesn't matter. I love the way my car looks and people comment on it all the time(even though it's basically stock). If i wanted a fast car i would have bought mustang or firebird or something like that, but that's not my style. I thought about doing a civic hatch with a b20 vtec which would have been really quick and possibly looked o.k. rollin' on spoons but when it comes down to it, i'd still be driving a civic (i drive a civic too so i'm not putting down civics, but they're just not preludes...Our preludes are great cars and it just confuses me when people talk about how slow their car is.
I think we all go through times when we want to sell our cars and get something different but for me it's usually it just passes with time. i love my lude and i hope i can keep mine forever.
if any of you actually read all this, i'm sorry, it's just my thoughts about my car.
I knew this car wasn't the fastest..nor was it the slowest
I loved the looks and handling, and Hondas reliability.
True, unless you lay down a couple G's you won't see a HUGE change in the engine performance
But in all honesty, for me..the little changes and customizations I can do to my lude to make it different and more efficient make me happy...thats the whole point of this hobby
Imagine what the people who customize Fireflys and freakin Accents are thinking....we have it pretty good
I wanted something that looks good, handles great, and is quick enough not to be punked off...and I have that in my Prelude

I bought my car because the car looks great. Mine was all stock.
Then on a few meetings, everybody wanted to know what's in the engine bay. I started with a few mod's, but I only do it, if I can see the mod. I know my car will never be a drag monster, but it never intended to be. Just relax and show you're car. I quite enjoy the curious thoughts about how fast my car is and never tell anybody. Just because I don't now it either. That's fun!
Modding the Prelude is expensive, and unless you spend thousands of dollars, your arnt going to see much of a gain. You want a fast car? Get a civic hatch and a b18. You want a graceful car that can hold it own against other, more expensive cars in both the looks and handeling dept? Get a Prelude and be done with it. The Prelude is a hobby, and should be treated as such.
I've had my car for almost 5 years now.
In that time I've done I/H/E. Once upon a time, I did plan on getting the rims and kit and doing my paint, but then I saw the time and effort put in by the guys who did and well, I was a lazy b!tch.
Money wasn't really and issue, because at the time I could save and scrape up enough cash to pursue any mod that I wanted. After about 2 years though, I got tired of it. All the typical mods just didn't seem to make any sense. I'd spent nearly a grand on stuff that I didn't care for at all (i/h/e). I've never gotten around to the wheels, no longer really cared for the paint, and still didn't want to go through the efforts of getting a kit.
And then I spent more money to do the brakes and clutch. OMG what a pain! But the brakes, next to suspension, was probably the most well spent money I've spent on my car. So I figure I'm about 50/50. 50% of the money I spent went to waste, 50% of the money I've spent I've actually enjoyed on my car.

I disagree. You can BARELY afford wheels for $1000. And in the end what do wheels get you?? Not alot, they look cool sure, but when your driving you dont see the outside anyway.
Your going to have to put about $3000 into your car to make it "look like nothing else on the road".
Hmmm I have gone all otu on the looks of my car. I have intake/exhaust. I find its not worth 2 mod one. I just like the car as a WHOLE car. Its fast enough for me, I dont want 2 be like every other monkey driving a integra or civic. THere is millions in my area and not any good looking 4th/5th gen preludes. Thats why I love my car!
thanks for the encouraging words everyone, I am back in the saddle. I think I may have decided on rims too...
17"X7.5" Rota Sub Zeros. "Gun metalic silver with machined lip." Will they fit a 4th gen? What offset do they come in? I don't want them to rub. Do you guys think they'll look good? Be brutally honest.

I like the subzeros and I think they would look good, but why not 16" Rota slipstreams instead? I think they would look good on your car. And as far as the rub, just Dremel the B!tch. Plus, I highly doubt 17's will rub unless you drop your car like mine. I say use eibach prokits w/ koni yellows that way it will still be practical.
Plus, who cares if you only improved .5, remember as soon as I get my h22 you can have my h23 for dirt cheap.

well, I really like the look of the Subzeros, yeah, the slipstreams are really light, but the biggest they come in are 16s. I think some 16s would look pretty good on the car, but the Slipstreams, I dunno, they're just not as pretty as the Subzeros. Plus, the Subzeros are still pretty damn light, expecially when compared to my 22.5 pound stockers.

Oh, the first time I did not see the pic of the rim load. Those look really good in gun metal. Im a sucker for polished lips also...
Just don't go past 17, biggest mistake I have made to my car. If I were you I would get 16's but thats my opinion.
What offset are those? and how much do they weigh.
BTW, you can't go wrong with spoon knockoffs

I'm not sure of the offset, not positive how much they weigh either, although, the 15s weigh something like 14 pounds, so these probably weigh less than the stock wheels. Also, the subzeros are RH knockoffs I believe.
