ignition switch bad?

I'm not sure of the symptoms for a bad ignition switch. If anyone knows, I would appreciate some info. Here's what is happening to me: Sometimes, I am losing all electical power to the car. Everything, door locks, dash, clock, lights. I have checked the battery clamps and they seem to be on tight. Recently, I have had problems with the switch anyway. The little thing inside that lets the car know the key is still in the ignition is sticking and I have to jiggle the key as I take it out to make it work. Thanks.

yea its your ignition switch, specifically the electrical side NOT your mechanical side. It's a known problem on some Ludes (like mine). I can crank the starter but the engine won't start...gauges doesn't light up also. Good thing I have a neighbor that owns a stereo shop and knows a lot of electronic stuffs...free repair for me

Thanks. Mine's a little different. I can't crank mine over or anything but I will try replacing the electrical part of the ignition switch. That thing about the key is annoying too though. It's always beeping at me thinking that I'm forgetting the key in the slot.

better get it fixed. That's how mine started. A few months later it won't fire up at all. Good thing it was my vacation when it totally failed.
