If you can solve this, then "U DA MAN"

The first sign of trouble was when I was at a gas station running low on fuel. After filling up tank , car wound'nt start right away after a few tries then it started up. This happened to me twice both when I was at the gas station low on fuel. A few weeks back driving down the freeway the car wanted to shut off as the gauges were flickering on and off and my speedometer was dipping up and down then it shut off on me(had plenty of fuel). I put it in neutral while running and started it and continued to my destination. After party was done started car up and went to turn car around to pick up buddys. When slowing to a stop, my car just shut off and its been off ever since.

None of my gauges light up , my power windows don't work. Headlights come on,battery is good, car cranks but wont start. I've read a lot of articles on this forum and have some ideas of what it could be but wanted hear all of your opinions on this subject. The car has an old black widow alarm that does'nt work. Could this be the problem along with the main relay, coil, distributor cap, bad ground, fuses, not getting fuel or the ignition?

Any positive feedback would be greatly appreciated. I wanted to know what 1 thing is most likely responsible for this mess so I can start there and work my way back down. Thanks in advance guys.

Check to see if you have had the ignition switch recall done if you drive a 5th gen. If that has already been done, check to see if your fuel pump comes on when the key is in the "on" position, if it doesn't then it's your main relay. Start with those as they are the easiest to check.

Report back with your results.

4th Gen Forum...

Could still be the ignition switch. I just replaced mine a while back. The contacts just burn out over time.

^ Did you learn to type via cell phone texting or rap lyrics? Either way, you fail.

OP, if you aren't familiar with testing things using a multimeter, I recommend you take it to an automotive electrician.

yes, this is the 4th gen forum....however, this was the issue I was having, and redid the main relay, and then ended up replacing the ignition. solved it, life goes on.

i had the same problem. left me sit at work. but cause i can rig almost anything up, i took a bungee cord and rapped it around my e brake, then hooked it onto my key. when i turned the car on i would turn the key to start it then turn it back a hair and let it run. problem was that it was falling back to far to keep the car running and thats what i did for a week till the part came in!
