Idling and Speedo problems

I currently have two problems i need to fix, and any help would greatly be appreciated. BTW i have a 95 VTEC

Problem 1
So a couple weeks ago my speedo started acting flakey, ie... it started to jump down about 20mph or so, had a real mechanical look to it... then soon after it just died... thinking it was just the VSS i replaced it and nothing... but i realized that i only replaced the electrical part of the unit. do i need to replace the power steering speed sensor too... that's the lower mechanical section of the VSS... any input would be great. BTW i'm throwing a CEL 17 which is the VSS indicator.

what i replaced.. number 3

this is what i think i need to replace... number 8

Problem 2:
My idle started fluctuating the other day ranging between 1500 and 2500, hot or cold, doesn't matter. i pulled off the throttle body and cleaned the idler valve and still nothing.... i have a feeling it may be the fast idle thermo control valve, but i have heard that it will only affect fast idle? any ideas? thanks again everyone.

i remember when i went through idle surge hell, the plastic part in the iac valve was loose, i just tightened it up and it was fine..... were there any loose or worn parts in there?

ok so i fixed the speedo problem, the powersteering speed sensor had literally broken loose, so i had to replace that... now about the idle.

i've thus far replaced the iacv, fast idle thermo valve, pcv valve, cleaned the throttle body and idle screw ports, sprayed carb cleaner over the vac lines to test for a leak and still nada... any ideas? I did notice that there seems to be a lot of pressure in the coolant lines that run into the iacv and fitv, and they seem to be dripping at the points where the tubes meet the metal bends. there are no clamps on them as of yet, but there never were before, and this dripping is new. could my thermostat housing be clogged? and would this perhaps cause an idle issue? my only other thought is that the ecu is toast... please, any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

so it turned out to be the starting air valve, i guess it just broke...

but now the speedo is messing up again. its starting to jump up and down, and sometimes not work at all. given the previous situation, i'm guessing the power steering speed sensor is about to break again. does anyone know what gear in the tranny drives this? **** my life!
