idle and ticking

i already searched thru the search and came up with nothing.

heres the symptoms:

when the my SR is fully warmed up and im at a stop light on idle. my steering wheel and center console vibrates like crazy. the needle falls near 500 and 600 RPM. isnt it supposed to be at 700?

also when im on idle, i press on the brake and i hear this loud ticking (2 metals continously hitting each other) noise. it also ticks when i press on the clutch and thats it. it ticks on and off and not all the time. could it be my generic cold air intake pipe hitting something? cuz it doesnt fit properly like the AEM does.

i have dc headers, exhaust, msd wires, and generic CAI so far w/ 65K miles on it. so what are the problems?

the idle when warmed is supposed to be around 750. Mine also idles a bit low though, around the 500 mark, and it also makes the car vibrate a bit. As for the metallic clicking noises, not sure what that may be.

Sounds normal. The ticking is just the valve train.

NOrmal

alot of people have this so called "problem". i have it too on my 93si. the ticking is normal, but there a dealers tsb on the excessive steering wheel vibration at idle though.
i recomend adjusting the valves & increasing the idle and turn up your radio.

there's a small screw that is (i think) on the throttle body. Turn it one way, if the idle drops, turn it the other way. H23 is supposed to be at or around 750 at idle.

Try replacing your cap & rotor[mainly the rotor] That should cure the dipping idle, also check the plugs & wires. I replaced all of the above and my ignitor chip in the distributor, only to find out it was a bad rotor.
