I got this idle problem. My car will rev up to 1500 rpm’s then fall down to 1000 rpm’s. It will do this over and over again. Sometimes it will not do it. Sometimes if it is bouncing around I can turn on the AC and it will stop if for a few minutes, but usually starts back up. I have found that it only does this when sitting still. If I am driving down the road, and start to coast (clutch in or car out of gear) it will not bounce. Although once I am stopped it will start back again. I have done the H22 swap, I had it when I had my factory air intake and now I have it with my CAI. I am not throwing any CELs, I have checked for missing vacuum lines, but did not find any. It’s rather annoying to have my car do this, especially when sitting at a light. The car next to me thinks I am reving on him.
A thread just a few topics down just ended with how to fix that problem. Try a search, cause the instructions to fix the problem are long to type. Its been covered a zillons times.

1. air bubbles in cooling system
2. dirty IAC screen
fixes...
1. when the engine is cool, take off the rad. cap and let it sit for about 10 minutes. This will allow any trapped air to float up and escape.
2. remove the IAC and clean the screen.
i found the Help W/ Video post. that seems to be mine problelm. is it 80$$ for the fast idle control valve or for the gasket? i was a bit confused about that.
i think i will try the letting air escape from my radiator. i believe there is a good chance i may have air in my radiator.
maybe, but i had the problem before i installed my CAI also.
i tried the removing the radiator cap and letting the air escape. no luck, i guess i will be ordering the fast idle valve.
well i went ahead an bought a new fast idle valve. it took us about 30 minutes to install it. started up the car and it ran smooth. tomorrow i will take it out in traffice and see how it goes.
well i am back from vacation (if you call it that). the past couple of days i have been driving the car around. when i have the clutch in and coasting it will idle around 2100 rpm. when i stop it will hold at 2100 rpm for a few seconds then slowly work its way down to 1100-1500 rpms. has anyone ever had THIS problem before?
cifer that is the EXACT problem I have, actually the first time someone has explained it the way that it is happening with mine. I hope to try some of the fixes soon so if I find something out I'll pm you, obviously I'd appreciate a pm if you find a fix for it as well. thanks.
Drove my 92 Si for the first time yesterday since I had the JDM H22 swapped in and I noticed the rpm's would drop to below 1000rpm and jump back up every time I sat still and was just at idle. I'll have to talk with my mechanic. I wonder if it's the IAC.

well my car did not do this for a long time and now its back again. so i dont know if resetting the ECU will help. although i will try it on my way back from work. i'll post something up tonight.
reset ecu = disonnecting battery or pulling radio fuse?
i'll do both just to make sure.
i have the same problem now, i took it to get a diagniostic and they told me it was the idle air control motor, so i bought one from the junkyard and that still didnt work, so i guess that one was a waste of money, now i ordered a new one, so ill let you know what happens when i install it,
thank you very much... i think i will go out now and take the car for a drive.
when i left work i pulled the radio/clock fuse. it only reset my car clock, not my radio. so i still had a high idle when coasting.
Well I headed out to my car and took a look at it. The vacuum line that you have missing in yours I have in mine. It’s a hose with the number 8 stamped on it, FYI. Any way, I traced it out and it went to my intake. When I put my super-doper power increasing eBay intake on, I just looped the hose back onto itself. The hose hand a T splitter in it and I just looped it all into one. So that vacuum line was sealed off.
However I do have a vacuum line unplugged and I was playing around with it. As you are looking at the engine it’s on the passenger side, top of the valve cover and supposed to run into your intake. However for some reason or another I do not have it hooked up to my super-doper power increasing eBay intake. There is a hose there and it’s just hanging around. I was plugging the hole up with my finger and I could tell the RPM would drop. Not too many but a few. I wonder what affect plugging this line has on the engine?
Then for the sake of playing around. I pulled the PCV valve out of the engine and plugged it with my finger. The car idle dropped. I thought about leaving it like this since po taught me that oil gets into my intake this way. But I decided against that. Oh btw, I am not running your typical PCV valve, I have a PCV valve from an 86 Monte Carlo. Yep it fits. I broke mine and a friend happened to have an extra one so we used it instead. How redneck is that? Fixing a Honda with a Monte Carlo part?
alright the one on top of your valve cover is your crankcase breather, DO NOT plug this, you either wanna put a breather filter on it, run it to a catch can somehow(not needed really), or hook it to your intake..
never plug your PCV valve either, either keep it hooked up to your IM or to a catchcan, then IM...
