idle adjusts by itself

i have my idle to set at about 1200rpm but in 2 days it reverts to about 500rpm. The screw to set the idle is soo loose i think the engine vibration screws it back in. So i have to readjuct every 2 days. Is there any fix like loctight or something?

Why would you want the car to idle at 1,200 rpms? You aren't using that as a cheap way to engage the clutch with out using the gas pedal are you? I'm curious. I'm sure you have a good reason for it, but the cars not as efficient when idle is set so high. If your car stalls at the lower rpm or something, then a different issue should be addressed..

So the question is:

1.) Why do you want / need the idle set to 1,200 rpms and

A suggestion: Don't use loctite on an adjustible screw... You will probably need or want to adjust it again sometime which I would imagine to be almost impossible.

If the screw is seriously that loose, how did it get that way? have you been constantly adjusting it, and if so, how come?

the lower it idles, the rougher it is. and the vibration and reverbiration in the cabin is bad. at 1000-1200 it goes away. i have been adjusting it every other day or so, but it suddenly started to go low one day and i have been adjusting it ever since.

1200 isnt a normal nor a "good" idle...if it idles rough at 500-700rpm, then theres prolly some other issues that u have that need to be taken care of...adjusting ur idle is a band-aid solution to ur problems...

Whens the last time your car had a tune up? You may just need to get some new spark plugs, and wires.

I'm not sure exactly why you are experiencing such a vibration unless theres other issues here, but I suppose the best way to get the idle screw to stay still, would be loctite it with the most mild of sorts. Otherwise, in the event you need to re-adjust it you won't be able to.

i changed the plugs an wires to NGK platinum recently, and have it maintanined regularly. Its not the engine thats rough, its the vibration inside the cabin that is annoying, plus there is a low reverbiration at a frequency that is very loud and annoying at low RPMs.

What exhaust muffler do you have? Depending on the direction an aftermarket muffler is aimed, you will get a nasty sound in the cabin which will drive you crazy. If you indeed have an aftermarket exhaust, try to re-aim it for a better more silent angle. As well, If you have laser tipped platinum plugs, switch them for stock equipment. They fire so hot in such a concentrated area, I have seen them create holes in Honda OEM pistons. (I belive you have those installed currently.)

You wont silence an exhaust thats loud, but when you have the muffler aimed certain directions, the cabin gets a loud head splitting reverbiration, and that could be what he is experiencing. I angled my muffler several times to finally get rid of that sound which made people feel "deafened" in the cabin at idle. I'm not sure if theres really a key dirction to face it, but when they go "straight out" Vs. "tilted up and away" from the car, they tend to be a lot louder.

Idle is kinda high, but anyways...after adjusting the idle set screw you should put a small amount of "Honda Bond" over the hole to hold the screw in place. Honda bond can only be purchased from a Honda dealer or motorcycle dealer - but you can also use something like a lightweight Threadlocker from Pentax. You can get it at any autoparts store. Be sure you get the light used one though, they make several levels of strength and the higher ones will make it so you can never move it again.
