Isn't it on the 5th gen that you can open/close the windows or open/close the sunroof when you turn the park light on?
I was looking for a way to do this to a 4th gen, and after the headlight switch there's a wire that will only have power when the park lights or headlights are on that goes to the under-dash fuse box would it be possible to splice that wire and hook it up to the wire in front of the resistor side of the power window relay? This way when you turn your parklights on you could open or close your windows or sunroof without your key. Anybody can confirm that it would work? Or if you don't understand I can scan the diagrams for this if you guys want them.

My 4th gen does that too...It keeps power in the system until you open a door.

You could always take off the little switch on the inside of the door way. I took it off in five minutes! One screw and your good to go. The computer doesn't think the door has been open so that way you can open your door and shut your windows/sun roof at the same time... A lot easier then all that wiring...
I'm sure I read somewhere that there's a car that you could lower the windows when you turn on the park light, I was sure it was on the 5th gen...
nsingler: yeah but isn't there a timer so after a certain time you won't be able to lower your windows? I want to be able to lower then anytime
There's not a lot of wiring to do this, if the way I think works, there's only 1 wire to add, you'll just have to splice it in 2 other wires and they're not even far. One connector is on the back of the under-dash fusebox and the other is on the combination light switch so you could probably splice it up somewhere where the wires are closer together
What I'm wondering is what happens when your car is started and you turn on the park/headlight? you'd have current coming from 2 places what would happen? though you could put a relay in the wiring so that when the car is started, it would open the wire you added so electricity would only be coming from one place
Wouldn't that have a constant power supply? You might burn out the sunroof motor if it keeps going and going. Just a thought.

I don't think you understand, what I'm trying to do is to give power to the power window relay when you turn on the park light which would close the relay so you can open or close the sunroof or windows even if you don't have the key in the ignition.
Turning the park light on wouldn't automatically open or close the windows/sunroof, it would allow YOU to do so.
Like for example you're having a beer outside your house and it starts to rain, the sunroof on your car is open and your car keys are in your room on the 1st floor, well instead of having to go get your keys, put them in the ignition, turning it to the ON position then close your sunroof you would just have to go to your car, turn the park light on and close your sunroof
yeah but if you don't have your remote with you, you still have to go get it Not that I don't always have my keys with me but I think it would be nice to be able to open/close the windows/sunroof without my keys
i think i get what ur tryin to say... but i dont know how to answer u
but i have my own little story of a similar thing i tried...
i first tried to wire the secondary fuctions of my alarm to open and close them with a push of a button, but then i found out that the built in relays only sent out minamal power... i would need addtional relays...my next idea would be to use this old keyless entry system i had layin around... when u push and hold the buttons its like a switch and lets the complete 12v through. but when i went to hoook it up to the switch what i found puzzled me... from what i could tell the switches were positve grounded (meaning that when pushing the switch it doesnt send power to the motors...power is always there (depending on key in ignition and so forth) it insteads grounds it... and then when whatever it is doesnt get the power it turns on the motor.... actually i dont think that explanation makes any sence... its always been hard for me to explain electrical ****... i just get it when i get my hands dirty though.
in order to do what i wanted it required more digging through wires than i had patience for. so i gave up.
I have scanned the wiring diagrams, the place to splice the wire would be on the RED/BLK wire in the bottom right corner on the first diagram and this wire would to to the GRN/BLK wire coming from the ICU on the top right corner of the second diagram
The thing is what happen when the car is running and you turn on the park light? There will be power coming from 2 places... What would happen? If I were to put a relay that would open the new wire when there's power in the GRN/BLK wire would that work?
i dont see why it wouldnt work, as long as the windows are getting power, no matter where its coming from it should work. my $.02, if its worth that much. go for it and if it doenst be sure to tell us. i'd like to have that feature also
sound interesting, but i wanna wire my sunroof to close with all the windows, and yet i don't haha. when i turn on my alarm the window closes, but the sun roofie stay alone,

Get a window closure module for your alarm. They usually have the function to close either four windows or two windows and a roof (such as mine).
