IAC valve broke - - - HELP

Today I was driving to work and my car starts reving all crazy so I go back home and look to see what's going on. The hose that is going to my iac valve is just hanging there and the part that goes up into the iac itself is corroded and broke off. For a simple fix I just looped the hose onto itself so there is no leak but thats only till this weekend when I'm off and have enough time to fix it. What is the easiest way to fix this problem?

Break out the wallet and buy a new one.

Your best course of action would be to replace the Air Control Valve with a new unit. It's a pretty easy job to perform by even the greenest of shade tree mechanics. I'll even be a sport and post up the procedure for you

1) Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2) Detach the wiring harness from the IAC valve.

3) Remove the two retaining bolts. (ref #27 & 28)

4) Remove the IAC valve (ref #17) and discard the old seals or gaskets.

To install:

5) Clean the gasket mating surfaces thoroughly.

6) Using new seals or gaskets, position the IAC valve on the throttle body.

7) Install and tighten the retaining bolts.

8) Connect the wiring harness to the IAC valve.

9) If raised, lower the vehicle.

10) Connect the negative battery cable.

My plan was to fix it this weekend, when I had time. I work everyday till about 1 in the morning. I fixed it this morning. It was actually the whole bottom side that broke off, not just the plastic piece. And thanks for the diagram, thats the way I had intended on fixing it. I'm thinking about selling my prelude and buying a rx-8 but not too sure still. Any thoughts?
