I wanna know what I got myself into...

Hey guys, I ordered my new clutch last Tuesday, and it wasn't until Friday that I learned I accidentally ordered the wrong clutch. I meant to order the ACT heavy duty press.plate w/ the ORGANIC clutch disc, but I found out just a couple days ago, when I went back to the site I ordered it from that I'll be receiving the Heavy Duty pressure plate with the 4 PUCK racing disc. So I decided that I'm gonna go through with it anyway, considering my existing clutch is pretty much shot, so I need to get it replaced very quickly which means I don't want to wait to ship it back once it gets here and then wait another 2 1/2 weeks to get the organic street disc. So now I need to hear from you guys what the drawbacks will be by going with this clutch. I have a very basic bolt-on setup right now, but I do intend on adding quite a bit of power to the motor over the next year. Besides the hard pedal that I'm sure I'll have and maybe a little clutch chatter due to the unsprung hub, what other pros/cons will there be to having this clutch on my daily driven Prelude? Will my cars engine/tranny be in danger at all?

Thanks. I already know the basic problems that are associated with it, I just was wondering if anybody knows anyone running this clutch combo or have heard other things than just what all the websites say (ie, not recommended for street use, harsh engagement, etc.). What happens when it IS used for street use though, I mean will my tranny blow up or something? Surely not. I've also heard that this clutch won't last very long. Anyone have any certifiable facts to back that up?

well I've got the ACT Xtreem plate with the racing 6puck (on a Fidanza FW). and when they say "harsh engagement" they weren't kidding. it always chatters when taking off from a dead stop, unless I chirp the tires. so with a 4 puc I hear its worse, you will hate it.
as for how long it will last, Ill let you know when mine needs to be replace.

have fun with it. don't start with your RPM's too high or you could strip 1st gear from the constant shock.

from what they are saying...it would be worth it to wait the 2.5 weeks and send it back to get the right one.

Yea I can imagine how bad the 4 puck racing clutch will be. I have a 6-Puck and it doesn't chatter but is very touchy and shakes the whole dash whenever you try to take of smooth. It's an acquired art of driving...

why dont u just order the one you wanted asap, and and ship this one back right when it comes in, do a next day delievery and u ll be set. no need to be impation just to have your whole dash bout to fall out everytime you engage
