I orderd my legend calipers today:)

Well it was a tuff decision, I found a exhaust I wanted real bad for a good deal, but I need a brake upgrade so I went for the legend brake upgrade and ordered them from the dealer.
I know I know before all you guys start flaming for ordering them from the dealer I tried to find them in the junk yards, and I am very leary of that anyway because I don't know where they have been, and I just want to slap them on anyways and go. So I just thought Id share.
I pick them up in a few days, then I will be slapping them on my new vtec size brembo drilled/slotted rotors

wish me luck, matt

how much did they cost?!?!?!

but as to where they have been... there isn't much to brake calipers. All you have to do is buy the seals, clean them up a bit, and they're as good as new.

Yeah I know, I have just always kinda been that way.
As for pricing I got them for 95 dollars each through my shops dealer cost. But the thing is they want a core so I got to find a core or else they want to charge another 60 bucks each.

95 each isn't bad. What exhaust were you looking at? Just curious.

you're kinda stuck on the core charge there... unless you give them your old calipers and they dont check to see if they are off a Legend or not

I was just going to give them my old calipers. if they don't take them they don't take them.
I am really excited about the brakes though, I know it's been done a million times and it's nothing original but I still think it's a really cool upgrade, plus get them power coated a nice color, still nothing original but it looks nice.
I hope I notice a big difference.

Let us know what you think, and good luck.... I'm really interested in this mod, cuz I'm tired of my satisfactory brakes.

Alright Alright, I got my calipers today, I installed the brembo rotors, legend calipers and brake pads.
I took a few pics to maybe do a little mini write up on it, hopefully I will get them downloaded and somebody can help me on how to post them.

Installation was a breeze, no problems whatsoever.
however, I think I need some steel braded brake lines, to improve pedal feel. I am going to get a little loose this weekend with my baby in a nice canyon somewhere to see if I can notice a difference. I will keep you guys updated.
They definately look real good I just hope I get the performance I want out of this whole deal. I am not much for looks if they don't do anything.
later matt

cool

you gotta be very careful when you bleed them, especially since when they're freshly installed cuz they are all full of air.

stainless steel lines are a good addition too. go all the way it'll save you the trouble from having to bleed the brakes all over again too

Yeah, I spent a good 15 minutes bleeding them. I don't even know where to start looking for those lines. I will find them somewhere. I heard they are about a 100 bucks though, but I would imagine well worth it. I was gonna paint them, but It wouldn't of matched anything on my car, so it just seemed kind of ricey to me.

One other thing I noticed that bummed me out was the fact that the legend calipers are significantly heavier than the si calipers, understandibly so by being bigger, but I just try to save all the weight I can.

Check GroupBuyCenter.com, and search for Goodridge. There should be someone selling Goodridge SS lines.

you know whats weird, the total contact surface area of the piston in the Si calipers is bigger than that of the Legend dual piston calipers. go figure, heh

Thanks guys, by the way I took her out for a spin today to show my step dad, and he knows how my brakes were before because he has this little street right by his house, great for test runs.
Well before wound it out through second, and there was vibration, fade, and the car just wouldn't stop, granite the brakes weren't in the best of shape to begin with, but anyway I took him on the same street same speed hit the brakes and they stopped us so damn quick he was even impressed and that is not easy to do with him. Anyway I just wanted to say I notice a tremendous difference in braking and stopping power and I am very happy with the upgrade, it was worth every penny
write up coming soon!!!

I want to say thanks to everyone with all there input and help through the entire process.
matt
