hello i just got a 92 prelude s.
it has 150,xxx on it and i was wanting to get a new motor for it.
i was lookin and i seen the h22a is a cheap motor but my friend i should go with a b18c. so is it hard to do a b motor in a prelude. also which one u think i should do

first step, tell your friend he's an idiot and never let him touch your car.

second step, buy and h22. one of the easiest swaps to do, makes more power than a b-series, and much cheaper to swap.

keep the f22a1 until you NEED something else, then upgrade. that's my advice. the b18c wont make your car 'fast' at all, the h22a will be much better....the swap is easy, but its a pain to do...im in the middle of it right now

it also has less torque

137lb/ft compared to 161 lb/ft. you need the extra torque for the heavy(ier) car

you will pay more for the b18, you will work longer on it to fabricate mounts for it and get custom a/c and p/s piping....

if it's lighter, it may only be 100lbs lighter at most

Again, tell your friend to know what he's talking about before giving people advice.

Horse Power is not the deciding factor in this, torque is.. Also, HP is a derivative of TQ.

Even negating the Power output between the engines.. A B-Series in the Prelude is NOT going to be easy.. Completely different engines, transmissions, sizes, geometry, axles, blah blah blah blah blah, etc...

It's not going to happen. It shouldn't happen.. There is no need.

Why do you think Civic/Integra's swap in H-Series Blocks? Or K-Series Blocks? While RSX's, Preludes, and Accords, don't swap in B or D-Series Blocks?? Because logically it makes no sense, you're downgrading your drivetrain..

Wait you have an automatic? Of course it's going to be easier to swap another auto into it. Unless you can find an auto jdm h22a.

THERE IS A DIFFERENCE.... between a jdm h22a w/ auto tranny and a jdm h22a w/ manual tranny

the auto has 190 hp while the manual has 200 hp... this was according to Steve from HMO..

Auto's supposedly have different Cams.

I'd go with the Manual Version.. Considering even Scott (2point6) @ Collective highly recommended the Manual version to me over the Auto version; not that I was considering it anyways.. Heh
