I Need More Torque!!!!! Ahhh!!!!

Well, a friend of mine has done a b20vtec conversion to his 92 integra. I love it! Stock and running 13's already! He went from b16 to b20vtec! thats a big jump torque-wise and everything-wise.

Back when i had the h23, the torque was awesome but top end sucked ass. Now, the low end sucks but bones-out when vtec hits. Well, i just wanted to take a poll on what u would do to increase your torque in h22a's.

Peace

you definitely have no clue what you are talking about. the h22 low end is just as strong if not stronger than the h23.

at 5500 RPMs as apposed to 4500. The H23 has more in the low end. The H22 just has 2 more PEAK lb ft of torque.

then something's up with my swap..

if u say the h22's torque should be stronger, maybe my timing is off? cus I definately think that the h23's low end is a lot stronger than my h22 right now!

you have to realize that your RPM *SPECTRUM* is larger now, peak torque occurs at a later time than it did with your previous h23, but driving h22's and h23's is a completely different ball game

with an h23, you baby it and hope it doesn't spin a bearing cause it's junk

with a h22 you launch it as high as you can without spinning too bad and bang 7700rpms every gear, keeping you in vtec and smoking your opponent

Why don't people get that torque peak and curves are completely different things, it's so annoying!! You're right, VTEC low-end is ****e. Nothing beats cubic inches for torque.

take a look on www.ntpog.org in the dyno section and compare a H22 and H23 torque curve and you'll notice that the H23 has some nice low end torque compared to the H22

I don't consider the H23 to be junk at all and I didn't baby it either, I was reving it all the way to 6500RPM everyday (or almost everday) and it was a damn good engine, nice power and even since I have a H22 I still think that the H23 is a great engine, though I love VTEC and the 7600RPM redline

I was again glancing at those Dynos, the H23 was actually making MORE peak torque than all the H22s (except for one which had identical peak torque) Not to mention the torque curve was FAR FAR more flat and smooth than the H22. Same with the HP curve, the H23's was much smoother. The H22 is very peaky. I LOVE my H23.
