i need all of your opinions...

im sure all of u kno, but i have a show car. my next focus is my motor. PLZ NOTE THIS. I CAN NOT HAVE A SWAP!!!! dont ask, long story.

is it worth it to get every bolt on imaginable for the h23a and some internal work. OR should i get a h22a head (yes i can get one) and do si/vtec? i have heard horror stories but im not too sure. is si/vtec really THAT much better?? and is it hard to install?? what all would i need besides the complete head swap?

so the question is all out n/a h23a or bolton si/vtec?

thx everyone.
im very motor-stupid.

If turbo charging is an option I would do that, because i too have heard horror stories about swapping in an h22 head.

Crower is said to be making camshafts (not regrinds) for the H23 which will be released march/april. Might be an option to look into!

About time...I wrote an email to them a LONG time ago, they never replied. Maybe my email was one of many though that persueded them to produce billit cams for us.

To answer your question, I ask another question: What do you want out of modifying your engine?

I/H/E and pullies would put you in the high 14s at sea level with the H23. I'd go that route.

That sounds pretty optimistic. I don't think my car is anywhere close to hitting 14's and I have those mods +.

At sea level, mine should be with only I/H/E. We'll see for sure though, I will be headed out to a sea level track in the near future.

I run a full half second faster now with I/H/E than I did stock at LACR. The Si is said to run anywhere from 15.5-15.9 stock at sea level, depending on the magazine.

That is still pretty opitmistic but very possible. I ran 15.6 at LACR which is not only a ****ty track (2.3x 60 ft times) but is also at 2500ft. Ryan you have ran 15.3 at Fontana right? Fontana is still at like 750ft. I/H/E, pullies and maybe some port and polish action should get you to high 14's.

Fontana is at about 1500 feet, I checked when I drove through last weekend. I'll be running at Carlsbad soon enough though.

I have an h23 with I/H/E on 17's which ran 15.1 at Englishtown NJ. It's possible to have that motor running high 14's and low 15's with just basic bolt ons.

That is some of the best news I've heard for the H23 crownd in a long time.

personally, id build up the si block, hell turbo it. why not.

[then after im sick of turbo, if that ever happens, id just go with the vtec head. everyone has 'heard' horror stories, but i rarely see people that acutally have done it]

Why don't you come talk to us in the NA forum? Also if you believe all the horror stories, then you probily didn't do that much research. As most people that tell the horror stories are people who don't have on (regarding H23vtec). There is a thread that me, Vern, Joel, and Matt did with a ton of info.
