It's been two days since I've sold the Prelude... and this morning, I've finally realized that I no longer have the car anymore. Made it even especially hard when I've been spending the last two nights teaching the new owner how to drive the Prelude (the Prelude is the owner's first manual transmission car. still a rookie.)
I just hope the new car can takes its place... but for right now, I'm somewhat regrettig that I sold the Prelude.

I just almost let mine go, it wasn't up for sale for long (as some may've noticed), but the car I was going to buy to fill it's place got sold, and I couldn't really bring myself to get rid of this thing. I just kinda feel stuck to it. Plus, to me, it's worth a lot more than it would be to someone else, I mean, it's paid off, it's a great daily driver. I'm sure I could probably get rid of this at some point, but it'd take a hell of a car to replace it.
-Erik (confused, and staring at tons of parts on his floor)
ps- I haven't had updated pics of my car up in a long long time. When they do go up... I think a few people just might wonder where the hell this thing came from
that is a ****ty having to show the new owner how to drive it
I would def. make sure he's not a ricer-- show him the light
I was reading a post about Gran Turismo 4 and they asked the maker of the game which cars from the game he owned and one of them was the 350z, and out of an EVO and AMG mercedes the Z was his favorite because it had the best balance.
Again, go with the track model-- it has those bad ass Brembo Calipers and rotors.
Only thing that upset me about the new Z was the interior, but I guess at first the 4th gen was a little different too
It would be hard to sell my cars! Especially since I just bought my Si and have yet to break it in! I think im just going to hold on to them and keep maintaining them as time go's on. I love my S almost as much as my new Si cause I know its one of the most dependable cars Ive ever driven. On top of that I have so many memories in my first lude. Im very reluctantly thinking about selling the S. Its going to be hard if I did! Maybe i should just keep it as a daily driver! I dont know,,,,,,maybe I should just collect all three!!!!!!
Good!! I'm glad you miss it! I'm glad you are being faced with your mistake of selling your baby that you puch so much effort time and sweat into .. you should be ashamed to get rid of such a beautiful classic.. shame on you.
Although, regrefully I must admit you'll probaby be satisfied with your new 350z ... but you will definately miss the extension of your personality put into all the car around you into what look so be perfection from all of our eyes.
Hey man, you knew what you were gettin' into, no sympathy here

With over 225K miles on the odometer, no one can really say that I didn't have full respects for my 4th Gen. Out of a 24hr period, 3 hours of my each day was spent in the car. That's why so much money and effort went into the interior of the car. The custom seats, the stereo system, the shift knob... nothing in the vehicle was less then $100. Spending over $18K into the car, I've replaced, upgraded, and had custom made all kinds of parts for that vehicle. Having to drive that car over 1000 miles a week, the feeling of the Prelude will definitely remain with me for years to come. Can't blame me for missing it...
I have however, realized now after selling my Prelude, that by buying a new 350Z or G35 Coupe, I've lost the personalized image that I had with my 4th Gen... the S2K paint, the Volk rims, in conjunction with the Wings West kit... Of course I can do the same with the new car... but it's another 10K to 15K that I can't afford to spend... especially with the new car payments.
The only thing that I dont miss with the Prelude is the overall ride comfort in comparision with a car that has stock suspension. Having to live in Bay Area, I'm sure most of you can understand the ride comfort with your cars in the down town area of San Jose and San Francisco.
Other then that... the Prelude was my pride and joy for the last 5 years. It almost feels surreal that the vehicle is no longer mine. This morning I woke up thinking the car was only in the shop for repairs, and I'll be getting it back in a few days.
As much as I hope the new owner will take care of the vehicle as much as I did... I really doubt anyone will ever baby the car like I did.
I need a hug man... lol...
You guys still suck
Ken

Should have held onto it for a few days longer, I got my buddy wanting it really bad, but the day he told me this I read the post about it finally being sold. I could have kept a really good eye on it.
I feel ya Ken. Although my lude was no where near the state yours is in. It will pass though. Then the prelude bug will hit you again. It's just a matter of time.
Want a hug ?? hmm .. I bet your prelude feels neglected, I'd hug her and cherish it forever .. but oh wait, thats right I have a Prelude and you dont THPTPTPT :P ....
Dude, you were obviously in love w/ your car and you got rid of her ... you'll miss stock suspension but you could have put a different/OEM suspension on your car to give her a smoother ride.
Albeit the 350z has a bit more travel in the wheels / ride height and more space in the interior (I thinK? it seems like a way huger car) It doesn't have your custom parts, your shifter, your beautiful paint, a sleek body kit, 2 toned leather seats, crystal clear audio system, the praise and confidence of knowing you pieced togethr with time patience and care into a wonderful vehicle .. like you said, 18k into the beast and now you'll drive along in your 350z and see another car JUST LIKE YOURS everythin because its all OEM and all cuz you wanted to sell your precious baby to a kid who cant drive stick ... If he comes on PO.com (which I highly stress and encourage you to do so we can bash on him if he wants to get stickers which is the only mod he could probably do to the car since everything else is done ... ) then we can all take care of him/your car but ...
BUT - If it was worth it for you ... then im happy for you and enjoy your nissan.
true... I could have placed the stock suspension back on, but I wouldnt have the the looks of a lowered vehicle... everything is a price... looks or comfort.
Either way.... let's just say that all of us come to a point where we have to move on... and for me... I think it was time. If I sold the Prelude at 300K miles, it would've been worth less then $5000. I wanted to sell the Prelude when it was still worth some money, rather then a vehicle that wasn't worth much at all. Overall, I know the new car will be better then the Prelude in a lot of ways... but not as well in some. If I was able to get the Inifiniti or the Nissan, keep the Prelude, and the Integra... by all means, I would have. But with the increase of registration fees, insurance rates, and maintanence of the vehicle... as well as getting married and buying a house in a few years... there was no way I could've done it. And at 26, I'm looking to purchase a vehicle that has more maturity... thus the reason for the G35 coupe.
In the end... there's only a selected few cars out in the market that can truely replace the appearance and overall driving experience of the 4th Gen. It was my dream car while I was in High School, and it remains to be my favorite car till this day... and it'll forever will be.

DAmn Ken... I totally feel u man.. this is going to be hard to let go dude.. I think i should come by your house and give u a hug and have u stand at your doorstep seeing me drive my prelude away.... dont worry I will be congratulating you on your new G35C! you will be satisfied to the utmost!
was the ride comfort really that bad? why not get some tien ss and lower the dampening or something? i heard teins are pretty smooth but ill be able to tell u for sure in about a month. doesnt matter anymore anyway. i think the 4th gen prelude will be a classic car someday. its so beatiful. i think it was time for you to move on... and youll soon find that out that it was for the best... i hope.
