Installing a laptop in my dash. W/ usb keyboard/mouse on a tray installed under the dash in passanger side.
Get a wireless nic, DVD, SB Platinum (for running to the stereo, or pre-amp). Then, everyone in the car club, crew, or whatever it is, gets wireless nics, and at the show, we can all play Quake over the vpn...
Best part, lappies run on batteries, no hard wiring =].
I can see it now: on the dash, you install the laptop so it sits at and angle so its almost flush w/ the dash, then just flip the monitor up, 12" lcd. Pop the dvd in. Get a satilite ISP, let the judges check their email.
Best part would be to maybe get ahold of the software fmax has for their 3d graph's for a/f. and the hardware needed to run to the ECU, how pimp would that me.
ya, didnt think about the shacking and the platters spinning.. bad combo.
Design it so its easily removable. =] put it in when your parked.... actually.. those new imacs are supposed to be pretty damn durable as well.. and come in clear i believe to match? heh.
I knew there was no way im the first to ponder it.
=] But i like the Quake idea... im a geek.

I don't remember where I was but I saw some guys car with a computer in it......I don't know where the key board was but he a number pad where his cup holder was. It looked clean cause you could pop the key pad in and out.....I don't know what it was hooked up to or but he also had a TV in his car which I guess he used as a monitor???
if you want to use wireless you're going to need some serious noise filtering going on. the transients caused by automotive electrical systems are nasty, not to mention the noise caused by the alternator and cars around you. plus the monitor is going to be putting out a lot of high frequency "crap". you'll need an aluminum box surrounding all communications equipment and the signals being passed in should probably be filtered as well. otherwise, who knows what will happen. still sound like fun?
how many of you actually use the radio anyways, hook the 'puter to the stock antenna, or replace the stock with a better one but don't drill any new holes
anyways, if this pulls through you'll all have cancer from this sh!tty radiation
I know this isn't as cool as a full laptop, but have you seen the NEO mp3 jukeboxes that uses a real hard drive? A guy with a V6 Accord had one that was cool. You could take the HD out and hook it up to your PC via docking station, and swap playlists. The thing even liss the song, makes playlists, and stuff like that. Could you imagine a 10 GIG full of mp3s?
I agree you could put a PC in a car, but the wireless could be a problem. Just get a normal laptop so you don't mess up your car.
