I fix one problem and another pops up

Hey guys,

Well as someof you may know I just fixed my rear shock knock and wouldn't you know it, another problem makes itself known

It was very slick the other night and I "tried" to get home, I guess in the process I pissed off the ABS somehow. It threw a light yeterday and I have a code 1 no sub code. This is the ABS pump motor overrun issue. I have done a search and it seems to have happened to others. I tested the relay and motor, both seems to work fine. I did notice that when I tripped the motor it necer did seem to labor at all, just ran. I am hoping this means that all I need to do is bleed the ABS system and it will go back to normal. My problem is I don't think I am going to be able to do that without the special Honda bleeder wrench. That bleeder is buried way down there. I am planning on bringing it into Honda and paying the $79 to have them check it out and tell me what exactly is wrong. Maybe thy will bleed it in the troubleshooting process and fix the problem.

To be honest though, I have owned this car for three years and have used the ABS maybe twice. I know how to virge brake and can keep control of the car very well. I would just as soon remove the whole system as fix it. I think that would be too much work though.

Worse comes to worse I will just remove the idiot light bulb and have a normally braked car.

I have heard of many ABS problems with 90s model Hondas. Personally my ABS light flickered itself on a good 15 months ago with a code of 13 (i think) which evaluated to a internal pressure leak within the pump itself.

The mechanic basically told me that we could put another one in but it would most likely break again sooner than later. He said my other option was to basically disable the entire ABS system since it was a standalone system in addition to the regular breaking system. I've just been living with it by keeping the resoivoirs full and not allowing ABS to activate.

How did you disable the system? I honestly would not miss the ABS but that damned light drives me crazy. Is it as simple as pulling a fuse or more involved?

Thanks,

mine is messed up and I know that it is the pump
they are a known issue with the abs system

But all the same I have never used it... only once did I almost wrech because of ice, but I doubt abs would have done much either

Unfortunately, I can't remember the details but it was more involved then to pull a fuse. It had something to do with disabling power to the pump. Perhaps someone else more knowledgable can comment on how it can be done.
