i did my egr block and...

Yep, I finally did the little free mod and pretty impressed. I cut and fabricated a peice of sheet metal steel from Lowes, and then painted it Hi temp black, so it wouldent rust. I just used the stock gasket to seal it back together.

Just making sure though, will the hi temp paint harm anything on the motor. Im not sure if the hole on the block makes contact with fuel. I just dont want anything to happen bad? Any input would help!

exhaust gasses go thought the egr, nothing else. you could be fine with the high temp paint, but imho i would say its safer to not have it. remember that goes directly into your engine and if erosion takes place, or settling of the parts makes paint chip, then that paints going to land in a cylinder and cause wear. i would try to dremel it almost flush to the egr but keep paint away from areas that could get sucked into the engine.

The 4th gen won't throw any codes with the EGR blocked off. The ECU only looks for the the lift signal, not flow. A 5th gen, on the other hadn, will throw a code.

As far as rusting, it might by the rest of the EGR is made of iron so I don't think rust will be a concern.

^ its on the IM. Its a valve that routes spent hot exhaust gases back to the IM. This is prevented by blocking the valve with a metal plate.
