dudes! i don't know what's up with the car but it works again!. i was on my way to school and i noticed my odometer was gradually turning, so i decided to clear the trip-ometer. still stuck. so i figured well 1 out of 2 ain't bad. but i got out of class and while driving home, i figured i try and reset the trip again, and gosh darn it it reseted back to zeros!? my car is just weird. maybe the 10 years is finally catching up to my 92... this was just a weird thing that happen. but thanks for helping guys... peace
Im not too sure about this but i think this could be the problem:
Try taking apart you dash and get to your gauge cluster, it shold be just like a black box with no way of opening it (to prevent tampering) There should be a cable that tightens into it, that cable may need some lubing after time, sounds like it just got stuck and then unstuck....
Gook luck man, let us knows how it turns out

my 93 si has a similar problem. my odometer seems to work fine, but my trip meter is random. when i reset it, all but the last 1/10 mile number reset, sometimes i have to press the reset a couple of times to make it start rolling.
'92+ Preludes have electronic speed sending units. There are no cables.
If the speedo works fine and the trip or odo do not, it's a problem within the gauge. Find another cluster... Honda does not repair these, and I doubt if it doesn't work any of us would be able to.
