How to solve ABS Problems

After many hours of looking on the net for help with my ABS problem I have found the solution.

First off I had found out the motor had burnt out throwing up an ABS light fault code.

I managed to get a new motor/pump & accumalator from scrap yard for £100! Taking the old one off was a case of undoing all the brake pipes into the accumalator, next it was the 4 bolts holding the bracket to body, then take off accumalator followed by pump.

And re-insatalling the ABS assembly I found that the motor didn't pump! A re-con unit was £400+!!

THEN I found the following info:-
Basically after time the two pistons sieze in the pump causing it to stop working. To fix this take the motor off the pump leaving you with an inner view of pump. Take a small screw driver and place it under the shiny metal plate a ping out. The plate is very springy and should come out easy. Take the pump ring out( found on middle spindle). On the outside edge is two pistons that at first look like ball bearings , these are what have become siezed.
Gently push these out with bodily pressure or very gentle tapping as the ring is very soft metal and easily bent out of shape. Clean all parts with 1200 wet & dry and bit of WD40.

Re--assembly is as above but in reverse and problem solved.

RESULT is ABS pump working and £400 still in your pocket for modding the motor.

Really?

What was it like when you took the hoses and stuff off?
Are they part of the Regular Brakes, so the car is NOT driveable
while fixing, or is it a separe fluid, so the car still can be driven?

Thanks, looks like your in the UK?

Although it's a separate system, as in if the ABS doesn't have to work for the brakes to , but you still need the pipes attached as one comes straight off the master cyclinder into ABS modulator.

The hardest thing was getting the brake pipes undone and I would suggest lots of WD40 and a spanner that works on the flats of the nuts to prevent you rounding the nut.

The fix is so easy and will save you around £400 for a recon unit the website forum I found it on have got upset about the posting and deleted it cause they knew it would cost them money!

The whole job takes 4 hrs max including bleeding of brakes.
