I have heard that to reset the ECU u want to disconnect the battery and then hit the brake so that all the brake lights come on. This makes sure that there is no power left in the car or something like that and truely resets. Can anyone clarify this for me?

thanks,
tim

Dunno, I was told to pull the 2 fuses and wait for about 30 seconds. Then put the fuses in, and start the car and let the car idle for 10-15 minutes. I would appreciate clarity, too

I just disconnect the battery for like 10 minutes and then start the car and let it idle for about 10 minutes. I assume this works because when i let the car idle i can see the rpm go up and down as the ecu tries to recalibrate itself.

i would check the cap and rotor to make sure that it is in working order. on my dads car i guess it wasnt tightened down enought when it was replaced and it came lose so the car wouldnt run. as far as testing the coil and distributer that is do-able. if all those things are working i wouldnt know.

can you reset your ECU by pulling the fuses? also do you disconnect the negative or positive terminal, or does it even matter, i'm just wondering if it will ground somewhere else.

in the service manual...it says you just have to pull the fuse for clock/radio in the underhood to reset the ecu..but not really sure if its correct..but thats what it says....pull it out for 10 secs...

and for your problem, is the car cranking at least and it just wont turn over ?....if that was the case, i had to replace the icm inside the distributor for mine...but i'm not really sure for the jdm h22 coz the one i had is for h23..
