I just had mine done, about 16k miles after I bought the car. I bought it used, but from a dealer, pretty sure they would have had that done before selling the car.
I'm not crazy about having rotors turned or having the work done at midas - I don't know if you like to do things yourself - but you can pick up a pair of Brembo blanks (not slotted/drilled/etc.) that are exactly like what come on your car for the same price you're paying at Midas. Plus, if you ever buy new rotors at Midas, I'm sureyou're getting the same crap they have at autozone/pep-boys. The rotors themselves are extremely poor quality and I have heard stories of the rotors warping in less than 15,000 miles. And, you're getting raped on the prices for labor, overhead, etc. at Midas
yeah, i'm sure all that's true. i'm a little worried about doing my own brake work. if i screw up my engine, i just pull over and stop. if i screw up my brakes.......
i've read the ntpog write up and it doesn't sound to be too difficult, or dangerous, i've just never done it before. are those aftermarket rotors turnable? i don't think that my brakes are lasting anywhere near as long as they should, even with my monthly autocrossing.
as soon as you turn the rotors you will bring them down to the minimum allowable specifcation.. you will problaby find that after a really short time your rotors will warp again.. I wouldn't bother turning them and just get new ones. install is pretty easy..
what brands are recomended here? as far as the rotors, and pads? i was just looking on tirerack, but reallt didn't find out anything that i didn't already know.
this is my daily driver that sees and autocross about once a month, other than that i'm pretty easy on it. i want pads/rotors that will last, won't squeal (too much), and are an improvement over the current set up. thanks for the help.
Look into getting some Brembo blanks or some Powerslot rotors along with some Hawk HPS pads. The HPS pads are great for low dust, easy on rotors, no noise, and great stopping performance. You can use them for Autocrossing as well. If you want to step up in pads check out the Hawk HP+ pads. These are more aggressive, they will leave dust, make a little more noise, little more harsh on the rotors, but man they are great for Autocrossing.
Another thing, if you are having your rotors turned, try to have them turned on the car as Honda recommends. it makes a huge difference in the vibration and longevity of the rotors. By doing them on the car they are trued to your specific cars differences in hub runout, etc. Most good brake shops should have this capability if not go else where.

I just bought some Brembo replacement rotors for my front with AEM pads. Install took maybe in hour BSing around a little, it was really easy though.
As far as braking quality goes, i only have only had them for 2 days so im not sure if they are worn in at all yet. As for now the braking quality isnt that good, its actually kinda mushy. I think its something i did though. Ill be working to figure out why its like that tomorrow.
If you get your rotors turned, is it necessary to get new pads? If it is not necessary and you could reuse the pads, whats the procedure to make sure the pads are also smooth and flat?
i have stock rotors, everyime my start to do this crap, i just go about 80-100 mph, then slam on the brakes, heat them up, and when they cool down, they are as good as new
