how much should this cost?

so i know that i need to get new valve stem seals. does anyone know how much this should cost? and does anyone know of a good mechanic in san gabriel that could do this for me?

you're probably ranging from at least $500-$1000 onwards up. Got to take the head out from the block, send the head to a machine shop, and put the head back on. The labor is what's gonna get ya financially.

You know we came up with a trick to where we didnt have to remove the head. Quite interesting actually. Long story short close both valves and put compressed air into the cylinder. heh

I've heard of that way, but I doubt any shop he takes it to is gonna do that. Its not a practice too many techs do.

nope its a DIY method. i mean the worst is that you fail and you drop a valve in to the cylinder which pretty much you have to take the head off anyways.

is it really that hard to do it myself? ha im pretty mechanically inclined, its just scary opening up the head :O
