How much Oil do you burn?

While my buddy was installing my sub today I checked my oil. I seem to have lost a wee bit somewhere's. I'm sure it's not as bad as I had thought, because I checked the car a few minutes after I was running but still, it's not gonna make that much change in the stick. I never smell anything burning AND I never have oil spots when I leave a parking space.

What about you all? How much are you burning?

Some times oil spots can evade us, take a flashlight and a wee peek under the car, shine the oil pan, etc., but chances are you're probably fine there. You're right, a few minutes after running doesn't make much of a difference, and I'm assuming you were on level ground every time you checked? Check it again cold before you hop in one day and see if it's any different by chance. I burn a little oil, almost unnoticeable though. Not even a quart or 1/4 Quart between changes. Usually when I change my oil, it takes almost 5 quarts, so there's a little bit of oil in the 5th bottle, and I don't even go through that between changes. My Si has 63k miles, but I think age and some sitting around has gotten the best of the seals, and that might be why I burn at all.

i dont burn either, tho i had was loosin some. But i dont anymore, i replaced all the seals with some genuine HONDA PARTS !! I had discount seals in there for 4 months, and i asked myself why it was leakin. i paid 45 bucks at honda for all 4 seals, and a valve cover gasket. not a drop of oil seen every since i changed everything last month.

I use up about 1-2 quarts between changes. It seems when I start it I get white smoke. Once it is warmed up I don't see much at all but in my garage there is a trail on the ground when I start it every morning. What, besides a bad ring or two can it be?

With the H23 once I had just got an oil change and went for a trip 2 1/2-3hrs away then came back home checked the oil and I had to add a quart and I could do that trip with 1 gas tank mind you. With the H22 I don't have to add any oil at all. I think the problem with the H23 was that it was getting a bit old and the seals started leaking a bit because I don't think it was burning it.

yeah, eric, i was just about to say, it could also be your seals, as I'm imagining that's the culprit in my engine.

i used to think i was burning 2 quarts btwn every change...but after i replaced my balancer shaft seal..no more oil loss

i havn't burned a drop of oil in about 2 months now....so, when you change ure timing belt, make sure you replace any old seals

or at least make sure you look for any damaged seals that my have a slight leakage
