OK, i was just looking on NTPOG.org and i noticed that our gas tanks are 15.9 gallons. well whenever i drive my car and i let it get down to where the gas light goes on, it only fills 13 gallons. now i know that the gas light doesnt mean that the tank is empty, but do we actually have 2+ gallons left in our tank when it goes off? so we actually have around 60+ miles left before we empty? im just wondering cuz my car gets about 20 miles to the gallon cuz when it goes off i have driven 260 miles. not exactly important but was bored and just noticed this and just was wondering.

It's true that you have 3 more gallons when the light comes on. That's what I've observed on my '92 Si too. It's usually around 13 gallons when I fill up the tank. The light is just a warning.

yeah i know its not good for the car, but some days im just SO lazy and i dont feel like driving to the gas station. even though it is down the road. i usually go to one in CT that is 5 min from my house and about 20 cents cheaper. doesnt sound like a lot but it helps. im happy my light actually works too, cuz i read a thread on how many of you dont have working lights. its wierd though cuz sometimes it will come on when i have 3 bars left and other times when i dont have any bars left. and then it will keep turning on and off again. doesnt matter though cuz im gonna start filling it when i get down to about 1/2 tank, especially when i get my JDM H22a. oh yeah, around how many miles do you guys get by the time your gas lights turn on. i have a 93 VTEC and i get 260. i also have 212k on it and am burning some oil.

im currently at 262 and the light isn't on yet. other times it'll be on as early as 240 and before when my gas mileage really sucked, it would turn on like at 220. it always turns on when i have about 2 bars left.
i have a 93 black vtec with 130kmi and yesterday b4 fillup i had 330miles and the light was turning on/off (mostly stayed off) i flipped out cuz i was doin 29mpg. i dont know how cuz i raced a couple times but on this new tank im not doin as well... im at 30mi with 2 bars gone.

Gas is too expensive...do you guys put regular, plus, or premium in your car? I try to always put premium but its so damn expensive so I usualy switch off between that and plus.
premium. but mu auto h23 gets about 300+ miles before the lights come on, but then i drive it another 30 miles till i get gas. i wait till the bar is solid first then i not the mileages, and just keep driving. so i get around 24~26 miles to the gallon, i use to get 28~30

With 179k on the clock, I usually get 325 before the light comes on then a guarantee 50 miles until I get worried. A few times I had the car cough due to starvation but not stranded yet, fingers crossed. 99% of the time I use Amoco gold, just picky that way. Although, I swear my car feels different when I fill up with another brand of gas.
