How much does the entire P/S system weigh?

I like the feel of no power steering. Im just wondering if it is worth removing the system (it might be a pain to reinstall it when i sell my car in a yaer or two), or if I should just leave it in and keep the belt off.

Anyone know? Also does anyone know how much work it is to remove and reinstall everything?

Thanks, Jordan

the nuts over at SCC ripped the P/S out of a 99 Civic Si in one of their issues about a year ago. I believe it weighed 11-13 lbs?

They claimed the steering effort was "manageable"

I like the feel with powersteering. Solid and refined, you just have to bump up the tire pressure a small bit to make low-speeds "manageable". Anyway, 11-13lbs may be worthwhile. I guess it just depends on how much work it is.

Trust me. It is not worth it.
To do it right requires building catch tanks, etc. (because the steering rack of the car was originally designed to have power steering).

I took out my A/C, heater, vent system, air bag system, rear of the vehicle, etc., and my car weighed in at 1200kgs. Still a little on the high side. The power steering is not worth removing, at all.

If race and rally cars don't do it, why should you?
