how much to cut bump stops

I just got my new Energy Suspension bump stops in and they seem huge. How much should I trim off? I'm lowered about 1.3" on H&R springs w/ Tokico blues.
Heres a pic next to a AA battery for scale.

You don't need to trim them. They're already shorter than a stock bumpstop, by a lot.

Cool, just checking. Everything I've read said to trim them. My old ones were so rotted there was nothing left, made these look huge.

they are about 1.5 that size in OEM trim. I trimed mine down to about the size of yours now for my H&R 1.7 drop.

I cut my stock ones in half at the groove towards the middle.

Where did you order those bump stops?

with H&R sports, you're not supposed to trim the stock stops anyway.

I got the from UltraRev, but I wouldn't recomend them. Stuff didn't come in when it was supposed to and when it finally did it wasn't even all there. I had to contact them to make sure they sent out the rest of my order. They are pretty easy to find on the web, for around $8.

Wuz up with all this trimming of bump stops? It specifically says in the HR installation instructions not to cut the bump stops! I cant imagine it being much different with other sport springs.

Well apparently your lost, because this the 4th Gen Tech support and it even says in the instructions you so nicely posted:

NOTE:
H&R 1997-up Honda Prelude.....trim bumpstops 1.25 inch

Says nothing about 4th gen!

Unfortunately, you are an idiot.

Seeing as how we're in the 4th gen forum, your post just confirmed that you are not to cut the stock bump stops on a 4th gen (92-96) Prleude.

I didn't get instructions with my Neuspeeds but the KYBs suggest cutting them in half. I makes sense though - if you have less shock travel you might was well give the shock as much of that room to travel as possible. I trimmed mine in half but I've never bottomed out on them anyway. Plus if you have progressive springs it'll get harder and harder the more they compress so you shouldn't hit the bump stops too hard I would think - unless you went for full launch

I trimmed my stock bumpstops in half when putting my Tokico HP (blue) shocks and Neuspeed Race springs in. But, that ES item does already look shorter than the stock piece. I would say just leave it and since others are saying H&R specifically says to not cut them; then there you go.
