How many of you are interested in the Spoon CF front lip?....

Sup my 4th gen brethren,

Well, from the time i started on these boards until now i've noticed that many of us love the Spoon C/F front lip for our cars and would love to get one. It's a clean looking front lip that makes our cars look awesome and they are RARE. And the best part is that they are carbon fiber.

I've recently emailed www.inlinefour.com who directly works with a company that makes their carbon fiber hoods(carbonworx), and their SPOON replica CF rear spoiler for the 92-95 civic(EG6) to order! Meaning, you place the order then they make the hood/spoiler for you. They don't keep a stock I guess. Here check out the link: http://www.inlinefour.com/carbonworx.html

I figured since they make their stuff to order i would email www.inlinefour.com and ask them to see if making a replica Spoon CF front lip for our BB1/4(4th gen) preludes would be possible. ." Now, don't get excited. They haven't replied yet since i've written them(on saturday and they're obviously closed sunday). But as you all know(and for those that don't) that Spoon has this lip back ordered in Japan and every company that i have talked to has no idea when they will be restocking. And they don't sell the lip Stateside. They all say(the companies) they never know with Spoon. One even said "Spoon products are OK, but have lousy organization so it could take forever." Also the lips are damn expensive from Spoon.
I'm hoping that they(carbonworx/inlinefour) will be interested because i believe that they can make a serious profit from doing this. But what probably will help convince them is all of us that want one. So anyone that would purchase this lip if it was available from them, please post a reply on here and we'll take it from there. If this doesn't work out, then we should try another company. There's money to be had here for these companies but they don't realize. My goal is too get this lip out on the market for us because there are so few lips that are nice for a relatively low price. Lets see what we can do... anyone else interested?

I'm going to try my best with this. I have a good feeling since they make on a order basis. They wouldn't have to worry about overstocking. We'll see what happens...

i'm pretty sure others will be interest too... if they do make them, i bet they will have trouble keeping orders, cause that stuff will be snatched up pretty quick... plus they will make a killing selling those. so GILL let us know what's up with this... peace.

I'm in, if the price is right. How much does the SPOON lip go for?

I want to try to find someone who would make a knock off Azect kit. Anyone with suggestions? I will email takakaira today to see if they have it, although I don't see it on the site.

Thanks Gills.

I'm definately in, if the price is right as well. This is the only lip I've ever wanted for the 4g.

The real spoon lip is around $500. But I think it has to be shipped from Japan. So you do the shipping calculations. Hell, $500 for a lip is already way too much.

Thanks Tola. I really don't want to spend over $500 on a whole kit, let alone a front lip, but that will be unlikely.

Won't carbonwerx have to get a real CF lip to make a mold from?

go to the bank, take out a personal loan...... get carbonwerx to make 20 or 30 of them, then you buy all of them.... then you sell them to people on here and on ebay.....im sure you could make your money back and then some....

Fvcking sh!t. That's all i have to say:

----------

First Email:

Me:

Hey,

I see that Carbon Worx makes a Spoon replica rear spoiler for the EG6.
After seeing this it brought up an idea in my head. Are you aware of the
Spoon CF front lip for the 92-96 prelude? Well, i'm sure you know that it's
nearly impossible to get because it's on back order in Japan and they don't
sell them anymore here in the US. I know of quite a few BB1/4 Prelude
owners who would purchase it in a heartbeat. Well, to get to the bottom
line i was wondering if you could find out if Carbon Worx would look into
it. I believe it would be a worthy investment for them because i know for a
fact that this lip is in serious demand for us BB1/4 owners. And the fact
that they make to order makes it even a wiser a decision for them. They
wouldn't have to worry about overstocking and they can add a profitable
piece to their lineup. I
Anyway, just go to any Prelude web board and ask about it.
www.preludeonline.com www.hondaprelude.com .... In all seriousness though,
if you could look into it, it would be a godsend.

Thanks in advance,
Tom

Reply:

Dear Acura/Honda Enthusiast,

Thank you for your inquiry. We can special order the Spoon carbon lip for
the BB1 Prelude it will take 6-8 weeks. Currently Carbon worx doesn't offer
one but we recommend getting the Spoon lip it's very clean. If you have any
question, please feel free to contact us.

Sincerely,
---------------------------------------------------------

Me:

Hey,

Listen, I can get a pretty decent group of guys to buy this lip if they make
a copy for cheaper than the ridiculously price Special ordered spoon one.
There has got to be a way to do this. How could i go about getting this to
happen. There has to be a way. Please help us prelude owners out and give
a piece of wisdom.

Tom
----------------------------------------------------

Reply:

Dear Tom,

In regards to your question, we do not have any Spoon replica
lips. However, Spoon will make us the lip for the 92-96 Prelude if we
order 300 or more.

Sincerely,
------------------------------------

and that's all folks. Yea sure, do i have the money to get 300 front lips? Do you guys? What's another option here. Isn't member Outlawlude getting his dashboard molded in Carbon fiber by some random maker? There is a thread on here about it and i've said that i would want in. We should ask who he's going through and see if they'd be willing because obviously inlinefour doesn't even want to bother asking.
This means we shouldn't give up now though. If anyone has any ideas of shops that'd might be willing, give them a call or something. It could'nt hurt.

Wow. 300 units@500 a piece=150000. We would have to get a serious break if we could groupbuy something that big. Yeah right. Screw them.

Considering that there are only 600 Fourth gens registered at hp.com, ordering 300 is out of the question.

I guess this is why it is easier for them to sell the hatchback spoiler. I could see them selling 300 of those. I've seen four driving past my office window while writing this post.

As far as getting someone else to make them, I think they would need to sell at least 50-75 of them to make a profit, considering Spoon wants an order of 300 even though they already have the plug to make it from.

I wonder if Spoon even makes it inhouse? If they outsourced the lip, we should cut the middle men (Spoon, Inlinefour) and get it ourselves, because if we want someone here to make it, we will need to supply them with an authentic Spoon lip.

Who else makes CF parts?

Does any of this make any sense? I'm tired, and this irks me.

Thanks for the hard work Gills.

JP

Did you guys see this topic posted over on www.hondaprelude.com ? Some of the kids over there are just idiots. And chris the webmaster wonders why we come to post on these boards instead?

Idiots. You nailed it on the head with them wanting the same "Veilside Style" cheap kit.

There's a guy I work with that has a lude and he makes fun of my car because I have a CF hood but don't have a kit. He has a massice front bumper that is hideous, and has a nasty rear bumper cover that exposes the metal bumper

hey, let's foward that email that was to inlinefour...

let's foward that email that was to inlinefour to other cf companies. like:

http://fiberimages.com/main.htm

arospeed ( they make eg spoon replica duck bill spoilers)

and i think jdmhondaparts.com
i'm sure there are others too.

so maybe those companies want to make a good investment and a nice profit... and make us happy too... just an idea. peace

F@CK SPOON, that's all I have to say. But who am I, in the grand scheme of things? Is it just me, or does it look like the don't want our money here?

Ok, i just emailed Fiberimages. They already have the replica Spoon Front lip for the 92-95 civic and the rear hatch spoiler:

Lets just pray that something actually happens eventually. I hope we don't actually need a Spoon lip to send to them so they can make a mold. I would hope there's a 4th gen spoon lip owner that would be generous enough to donate his for such a thing. Any takers?

i have an idea....

do you think the 92-95 civic spoon cf lip will it our 4th gens? i mean if it was actually fitted up to a 4th gen bumber would it met flush? for example, will the fitment of the eg spoon lip seem to match up pretty close to the 4th gen, if it does, maybe we can modify it to fit... maybe drill holes underneath, and attach it to the 4th gen's bumper. anyone other know the lengeth or dimensions of the spoon lip or the civic's stock lip... hmmm, i might try and investigate this... damn, but my bro's civic is in the shop! brr... well maybe someone on this board can do this before i get to it... just an idea... "modifiying a eg spoon lip to fit the 4th gen??? might be possilbe...." peace.
