how many people have trouble with 4ws

i was looking into buying a honda prelude with 4ws. i was just wondering how many of you who own one have problems with the 4ws? or is it pretty much trouble free as long as you maintain everything? I recentyly owned a 99 prelude type sh which had the ATTS, and i had problems with the ATTS and it was VERY expensive to fix, so i was also wondering if the 4th gen 4ws was expensive as well to fix if something goes wrong with it? I really want a prelude with 4ws but not if its a hassel and alot of money to maintain it, cause if thats the case i will just get a prelude w/out 4ws. thanks for any help.

i added it to my 94 vtec model because they didnt offer that with the h22and i wanted a bb1.

i had one small problem when i installed it my main steering angel sensor went bad i had a spare but if i didnt it would have been 190 for a new one. but the nice thing is that i f the 4ws fails it just becomes a 2ws car the rear rack always re-centers when there is a failure

never had problems when i had mine. The only problem I know of is some of the solders start cracking but it's as easy as opening the box and resoldering. pretty easy to maintain.

hey thanks alot guys for all of your input it sounds to me like to 4ws is the way to go. i did a little more research and ya all of the problems people are having seem to be able to be fixed pretty easy. i just had one more question, when i had my 99 prelude sh, because of the ATTS i had to buy specail parts and they were expensive and all parts had to be specifically for the type sh alot of parts off the base model prelude i could not use. is this the same for the 4th gen with 4ws? like when i order stuff do i have to buy parts specifically for the prelude 4ws or i can use parts off the si or base model? thanks again for all the input

nah, unless it's directly related to the steering, you should be fine.

things to know, you can not use any rear strut bars, no lower rear tiebars, also no after market sway bars. other than that your fine

I have a 92 4ws and its been working perfect. I had that 4ws light up a year ago and opening up the 4ws and re soldering the pins made it work again no problem. That's the only thing I can think of. Other than that it's very convenient for parking.
