How low is the idling suppossed to be?

Well I think my idling is low and sometimes my cars shakes when I come to a stop or when it's idling.

I barely idle above/at the first bar above 0 RPMS. Is this normal or is this extremely low? My car is basically stock except I removed my resonator and I tied off the tube. How do I adjust it or is it normal? It's a 93' VTEC. Thanks guys.

Well it became a problem more recently I guess because of the warmer weather, but I never noticed it being that bad. The shaking isn't terrible, but it annoys me. If I give it a little gas, and bring the idle up just a tiny bit, the rumbling/shaking seems to go away.

Stock should be at about 750. Your rpm's are freakishly low. Do you stall a lot? I had the same problem a few days ago; it turnd out iI had turned the idle adjust screw the wrong way. Try that first; (counter clockwise) NOT clockwise! If that doesn't work look for a vaccuum leak, check your coolant level, or clean your fuel injectors. Those were all of the recommendations I received. Good luck.

700-900 is considered "normal"

I think I have the same problem you described. My idle is usally ok. When I am coming to a stop and put in the clutch and the rpms are droping say from 3k it drops down to what looks like 0 then rises back up to regular idle point. To combat this I just tap the gas a tad when the rpms are dropping at about 1k and it wont drop low.

when i had the butterfly valve "mod," my idle would drop really low and my car would shake after i tapped the gas a bit while stopped or whenever the a/c compressor engaged. i changed it back to normal, and now i dont have this problem anymore.

check for any unplugged vacuum hoses near the throttle body

Low Idle

I'm running a JDM import ('94 VTEC) which is basically stock (hopefully not for long!) and the stated idle I've been told is 700 rpm. With AC on it goes slightly higer.

There have been many posts discussing surging idle and it's a problem I've had in the past but with no changes, the idle has recently gone back to 700rpm. I've just put it down to bad (and bloody expensive - you lot are so lucky) UK fuel.

Hey heres something to try. Start your car when its cold (not been run in a while) let it idle for 5-10 min. Dont touch the gas. Turn it off. Unplug your ECU fuse let it sit for another 5-10 min. Plug it back in and restart your car. DO NOT TOUCH THE GAS. Let it sit running for 5-10 more min. And I must stress dont touch the gas, and you've just reset your ECU. Let me know if it helps. You should also do this after any major mod, it helps you car recognize the difference.

it looks like this guys problem is in the gauges but wht will happend if you touch the gas, when i reset my ecu i dont but always wonder what would happen if i did, say reset it RIGHT before a race. would i still have a rev limiter, that would be soo cool if i didnt.

I run idle @ 500 RPM on a h23.... All you gotta do is adjust the screw behind the gas pedal to fix the idle... I dunno about preludes but thats how me n my uncle did it on a Minivan.

Normal Idle is approx. 790rpms -/+ 50 so this means 740-840rpms.

Turn your Idle Adjusting screw COUNTERclockwise while the car is running, have someone sit in the car and let you know when the idle is in the appropriate range.
