how do you change these light bulbs..

This is the part from honda automotiveparts.com

http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...atcgry5=SWITCH

the part # is 1 or 8 ..
anyways, its the lights that I think should illuminate the left side of the driver dash where sunroof/dimmer/cruise control switches are .. they're entirely black at night ..

any advice on where to change the bulbs in the heating control unit is nice too .. .

thanks!

Easiest way is to just pop the holder out of the dash and remove the three switches and all will be revealed, I just replaced mine.

There are bulbs in the side. Just takes like a #3 phillips head to get them out.

They are #8 and #9.

I suggest taking the bulbs out to see which one you need.

do the switches just come out ? .. I took the unit out last night when I was in the car waiting at a light .. but it didn't seem to come apart and I didn't want to force it really ..

Oh yeah .. just the night glow, the green LED turns on when cruise is enabled.. otherwise its all dark.
thanks though, awesome help so far!

Any news on the heating control unit ?

your backlight is out. It is a clear bulb. The whole assembly will lift out.(#7 from diagram) There are clips on the side to hold it in. When you pull it out you can unplug all the harnesses and get to where you unscrew it(screws are #12). It takes a little screw driver to get the screws out. There are two of them and really self explainatory when you see it. Then the bulbs are on the side. of the CC switch.

I have never had the control unit out but I know there was a write up in 5G about changing them to LEDs. I remember old threads about removing it so you might search to see

It just lifts out, use a small flathead driver (carefully) to pry it out. The switches are screwed to the main body by small crosshead screws. Pop it out and see, you kick yourself at how easy it is

it is a little more complicated than just swapping bulbs. Search for Ludatic. I think he made the post. He is the man when it comes to interior.

first place I would go is Radio Shack... if they dont have it in stock, they can get it. Pretty much any electrical component can be bought at Radio Shack.

the bulbs you're trying to get out just basically unscrew.. u dont have to take apart the whole swithc. all it takes is a quarter turn. if ur sick of the green u can take off the green "condom" on the bulb and then u'll have an amber backlight =-P

the cruise control light on mine went out too a while back. I just took out the assembly, removed the bulb and took it to the dealer and asked them to order the same one for me. but they must have ordered a wrong one or something because the bulb I got makes it light up clear when they should be all blue.

I did just fix up everything on my car now actually.

I didnt do the cruise etc. but the lights in the heater control are all clear so super bright colored leds would be needed to change the color as the color filter is in the switches ... now I wonder if taking the swiches off and coloring them in blue with a light light colored felt would do the trick .. hmm ...
