i've finally decided to clean my fuel injectors, hopefully the CEL will go away.
i know that the injectors are in the back part of the engine... but when i looked there didn't seem like there was any space to put my hand down there and get the injectors out?
also, any recommendations on good injector cleaner?
just look down at the back part of the engine from the side and eventually you'll see them, and once you do its pretty easy to see what you need to remove...(fuel rail, couple hoses, plastic vaccum hose holder)

then on the fuel rail there is a nut wtih a locking nut, loosen those to relieve pressure in the fuel sytem:
there will be 3 nuts ya gotta take off the back of the fuel rail as well i think theyre 10mm:
youll have to unhook a few vaccuum lines and the one on the valve cover as well. when you go to pop out your fuel injectors, you might want to have a rag handy. i covered the area around the injectors with some old shirts to soak up excess gas thats going to come out. go ahead and get new seal kits if you havent already. it kinda sucks but i had to pay about 7 bucks for each kit, but hell they sealed. [i tried to use the old seals, but yeah that didnt work out so well] also, remember to grease them a little with vasoline or another grease if you have it.
hope yours dont look like mine did!
take some pics of yours id like to see.

ok the seal kits- go to oreilleys or autozone, napa, just whatever parts store and tell them you need a seal kit for your fuel injectors. make sure you get the one with all the seals [there should be 4 pieces if i remember correctly, possibly only 3 in each kits]. you will see where they go when you take yours out. just make sure you put the new seals on in the same place your others were. [dont take all the injectors out and pull the seals off, keep at least one with em so youll have something to reference when youre puttin the new seals on][just common sense]. you want to get a kit for each injector, so go make sure you get those before you start taking stuff apart. its possible you might have to wait a day or so before they have them in stock, depending on the size of town you live in. [i had to wait 2 days to get a couple more kits in].
ok so once you have the seals, make sure you have some carb/brake cleaner and vasoline as well, go pick some up at the store, get some q tips as well.
back to the house- take all that **** apart [you might need a flat head screwdriver to get the connectors off the top of the fuel injectors. pull the fuel injectors straight out and dont be too violent with them. dont drop em, be nice. just get a couple rags and lay em in those to make sure theyre safe.
take that carb cleaner and spray it on the qtips, and clean out the ports where the injectors were. i took an old tshirt and wiped it out real good, then went after it cleanin with a qtip in each of the 4 ports.
then back to the injectors themselves. take all the seals off [remember to leave one alone so you have something to reference yourself with when putting the new seals on]. just go after it with a qtip and just clean it real good. pay close attn to not touch the pin at the bottom-dont want to screw that up or ya might have some problems cloggin it.
ok so once those are clean, put the new seals on [using the one you have with the old seals on, as reference]. i used my finger to wipe a little vasoline on all the seals. you dont want excess grease, so just make sure theyre nice and lubed, wtih no excess.
then put them back into the injector ports and start hookin stuff back up. make sure you get the locking nut locked back up, then put the gas cap back on.
have a friend stand over by the engine to watch for gas leaks [might want to have a rag handy just in case]. turn the key, let the fuel pump regain pressure [youll hear it turn on] and then start the car. if you arent leakin anything then you are good to go. when i did this, i had a leak in one of the seals, so i had to tear it all back down again and go get new ones, which i should have done in the first place.
more questions, just ask. im not sure if that was clear enough or not

u sir are a life saver... i was just gonna go and rip apart the fuel rail and get to those injectors without taking out the gas cap or loosening that nut to relieve pressuer.
mods... this needs to be FAQ'ed!!
give this man a prize.
hey man, that was a good writeup you did for him. props. dont forget to check your plugs for uneven wear or carbon distrubution before and after. make sure you didnt get something floating around stuck in the injector or anything. sum1 faq this.
