hp

the directions are on HP.com

this is a pain in the ass to do. I do mobile electronics for a living and it still took me about 3 hours to do it....

its totally worth it but it takes a lot of patience.

dont use the microwave, thats crazy talk. Here is the link for instructions http://www.hondaprelude.com/resources/article.asp?id=48 . Don't expect this too be easy, i tried it alone one night and burnt my hand and burnt my lights a little and got pissed off and gave up... The next day i had my brother help me, once you figure out how to actually get the lense covers off its a snap.

P.S. Make sure you have someone helping you.

Umm i used the microwave to clear my turn signals on my ford probe. I put it in until the yellow piece came right off but dont put it in for too long if you do that. I dont knwo if that will work on the taillights but the idea is the same.

You guys are talking about taillamps right? How do you stick a lamp in a microwave and the yellow part comes out? I hope most of you guys know that the yellow and white (turn signal and reverse) part is all one piece...

for those of you's that are lazy to search for back "How to clear the taillamp" topics...

You will need: heat gun, reflector piece, like the ones you use in the bathroom or kitchen (home depot has them, sold only in 4 x 2 pieces), a saw or something (i use Sears Craftsman hand dremal), a flathead screwdriver, some type of glue (like 3M emblem ahesive), and your taillamps.

You take your taillamps, use the heat gun to heat around the taillamp sides till the glue is soft but don't heat too long or the taillamp casing (the black part) will start deforming and melting. Use the screwdriver to prey the top part lens from the housing. Don't be afraid, put some muscle to it. Once you get the lens and housing apart, you'll see the turn signal/reverse lens sitting there, just pop that out. Now use the turn signal/reverse lens as a template on the big reflector. I tape the area i was going to cut so it didn't crack too easily. Finish product should look like this:

Now use the glue, put it around the rim of the area of the turn signal/reverse lens and place it back in the housing. Heat the glue again and pop the main lens and housing back together. Finish product should look something like this:

The pieces i have ready are for my friend which i'm clearing out next friday or so. The cutting of the new reflector lens and taking apart the taillamp are the hardest part. You need to take your time and have lots of patience. Should take about 2 to 3 hours to do the job. Any faster than that, and there may be problems.

Good Luck!

don't hastitate to eMail me or PM with questions. I believe some PO members are willing to do the job for you if you send them your taillamps.

Since I have done so many, it only takes me about 30 minutes for a pair now, sometimes quicker.

And thanks ERIC!!

When I do another set which should be tomorrow, I will be doing a write-up with lots of pictures, so I should have that up Friday or Saturday, and hopefully the mods will make it a sticky thread! "HINT HINT"
