Go to Autozone and borrow their code reader. Plug it in. Voila!

I don't get why you couldn't get the search code reader to work. My first guess is operators error.

But go do what blacklude1 said cause that works too.

Yeah everything is explained in that thread. However if your CEL comes on past a certain RPM while driving, and the CEL isn't there when you turn on your car, it's most probably your knock sensor.
