How often does it get to 100 in Calgary?

I live in the damn desert and it has been near 110 lately and I have black w/black interior. The key to get my car cool is to recirculate the air. So instead of trying to cool 100 deg air constantly it just just keep cooling the cabin air until its finally respectable.

the housing is square, but the actual sight glass is rounded. The fluid is clear, if there are no bubbles, it is either full, or empty, but if your air works, I am guessing its full. if you really stick your head down in there and look, you can see the fluid dancing around a little.

Exactly. I don't have tint, but do use a windshield shade to block the sun out. It works and saves from burning yourself on the steering wheel & etc. If it's hot, I set the air to recirculate, hit the a/c button, slider on full cold, a/c full blast... then just rev the car a little bit to get the a/c nice and cold. After about a minute my car is good to go and I have to turn the a/c down.

ya recirculate doesn't add much for me. At least I just can't seem to get the real cold air. May try to find that opening and see if I need the charge.
Thanks guys

If you know the anatomy of the compressor at all, you can tell if it is kicking on.

turn your fan and ac on and look at the pulley end of the compressor. sticking out about 1/8" past the pulley is a couple arms that are connected to the compressor clutch. When your A/C is on, these should spin with the pulley.

If you turn the A/C off, then look at that same spot, you should see the pulley is spinning, but the clutch part is not.

Hope this helps.

and remember, this is not a way to tell if your compressor is bad, it is simply a way to see if it is turning on.
