Ok people, I have a black SI with a Black interior (who was the genious on that one) which means it gets freakin' hot in my car during the summer and the black dash and upholstery just radiate heat like a mother. When I turn on my air on a humid day, it is cool, but not really COLD and it never really cools down the whole cabin, you need to have the air turned right on you to feel cool.
So my question is, do the rest of you guys (especially with black interiors) get this too, or do you think I need a recharge. I'm thinking that because the actual interior is just radiating heat that I can't really totally cool it down, but then again it could be that I need the charge. What are your experiences? And yes, I already have a reflective thingy I put in my front windshield.
I have a black si with black interior and i just got my a/c done. i think you might need freon. theres still something wrong with mine it doesnt blow really hard and driver vent side doesnt blow any air...

The air coming out is cool but not really cold. I've driven in newer cars and the air coming out of those is freezing. So I'm just wondering if having all the black around makes it too hard for the system to really cool the cabin down or whether other people find they can. You basically have to have the vents blowing right at you at either the highest or second highest level to feel cool but it only happens on really humid days.
Is somewhat dependent on engine speed and seems to get slightly warmer at low RPMS.
Mine's r134A in my 94 vtec and today I noticed the same thing (black interior also), I *thought* it wasn't cooling the cabin down a whole lot until I got outside and it was 100f
You may need to recharge it. I have black leather, I bet it gets hotter than yours and after about 5 min blasting it on high, I roll up my windows and my cabin cools down in like 3 min. After that I turn it down a bit and it stays really cold.
there is a sight glass on your A/C line near the battery/ air filter. If you locate it, turn on your air with the car running, and you can see the freon flow. If there are lots of bubbles, you need a recharge.
i had the same problem too
then my a/c started cutting out after like 15 mins after each time starting the car, i took it to see what was wrong, they said that there was too much pressure on one side of the a/c hoses and too little on the other side, i need a new compressor now
I have a black on black prelude as well.
I had my A/C done last year at the dealer and it is pretty damn cold. I typically have the slider warmer a little bit.
The A/C has sucked in both Preludes I have owned. But then again, it did in the Civic too I thought it was like that with most honda's so I haven't done too much about it.

Is it square? I don't ever remember seeing fluid in it at all. Is that a bad thing?? I might be wrong. What color is it?
i paid 300 to get my a/c fixed. it didnt blow cold air and it wouldnt blow out the center vents, justo ut of the bottom ones. after i fixed it it blew cold air for about a week. still doesnt come out of the center vents. i hit a pothole about a week ago and now the air wont even turn off when i turn the car off. everytime i get out i have to turn it off. im about ready to just trash the a/c. To me its just more weight and something to piss me off because it doesnt work right.
i have a 95 with black interior and i have 35% tint on all my windows except my winshield and it seems on those hot sunny days it just cooks my dash so hot that it takes forever to cool down my car.
i have a 93 si lude with black on black too. I have factory tint on the windows too, i think the tint helps some, but it is still damn hot when i get in the car. I had a new compressor put on less than a year ago almost right after i bought this car, and it takes a few minutes to cool things off on really hot, humid days (which is almost everyday in lower alabama), but after that it works pretty well. The only probs i experience are the center vents not wanting to open when i press the button (but they eventually open on there own), the compressor shutting itself off sometimes (i read in the repair manual that our ECU can shut the AC off in extreme heat or under full throttle), and the fact that it is next to impossible to aim the center vents to where the air hits my face.
