You have to get a timing light and pull the plug under the distributor on the front of the block. It is right down by where the engine code is located. Look for the settings on the sticker under your hood. It is on the hood itself.

I took mine to Kwiq Lube and they checked it for me for free.

Why are you so interested in checking your timing??

Get a timing light and hook it up according to its instructions. Then pull the timing plug on the block like $$Lude said. Set the timing light to 15 and point it inside the timing hole. Then change the setting on the light until you see the timing mark on the flywheel (a small + sign).

After I spotted my timing mark I noticed that it was not very easy to see, so I put some white-out (liquid paper) on the mark so next time I need to check my timing it will be very easy.

I have my timing advanced to 17. I know others on the board have done 19 but I'm not going to step that far. I haven't had any problems and have had it done for 4 months now!

I also have mine set to 17... it is still within spec, but the 2 degree advance gives a bit more power.
