HOW TO: Change Oil/Filter

Oil Time...

CAUTION: Remove the drain bolt carefully while then engine is hot oil may cause scalding

1. Warm up the engine

2. Drain oil. (17mm)(carefully loosen the drain bolt, oil will come out)




3. Remove the oil filter with the special oil filter wrench. (oil filter is to the left of the exhaust pipe if your under the car looking up)



2. Inspect the threads and rubber seal on the new filter. Whipe off seat on engine black, the apply a light coat of oil to the filter rubber seal.



3. Install oil filter by hand.



4. After the rubber seal seats, tighten the oil filter clockwise with the special tool.

5. Reinstall the drain plug with a new washer.

6. refill with the recommended oil.





7. Start car and let run for 3 mins and check for any leaks.

8. Go have a smoke, your done!

I just wanted to say that there is no need to tighten the filter down with the tool. You can just hand tighten it on there....that should be good enough. If you tighten it with the tool, you risk stripping the threads on the oil filter housing. If you look at a filter, you will notice that only a 1/4 in surface on the filter threads, yet you have an inch of threads on the housing itself. You guys can do it however you like, I am just cautioning you on this.

note: Put aluminum foil on the b-pipe, it'll keep all the oil from getting on there. Then take the foil off. The next time you drive, you won't have the oil on there that will heat up and burn off, making it stinky and smokey.

ahaha no its not a normal funnel, but its the only one i had.. and i was tryin to take a pic while pouring and i didnt want to spill it.. but i failed at that...

if you want to get anal, you forgot a few steps.

1. block off the rear tires
2. make sure the e-brake is engaged (pull the handle up)
3. jack up the front of the car
4. support it properly on jack-stands

after changing oil, is it normal to smell something burning?.....is that the new oil just getting heated up?

because i didnt spill any oil anywhere...
