How am I gonna pull this one off!?

I'm trying to figure out which jdm engine to order but I'm getting confused. So there is no 1995 JDM h22 type s...but there is a 97. The 1997 is obdII...or is it? A few people told me jdm engines do not have obd (On board Diagnostics)? Is this true. If so can I get any jdm h22 and not have to worry? The other tricky part is I want the tranny to have lsd? Can I combine a type S tranny with a 95 jdm h22 longblock? What about a 1997 longblock? I'm so confused. All I want to do is fit a 190-200hp engine (VTEC of course) w/ lsd into my 1992 prelude si. What should I do?

I'm going insane man !

Hmm.... i don't see why you're getting so confused. Seems like you're really eager to get a jdm h22a type-s model... but if you go that route, just more headache and money to spend. Why? First, the jdm h22a type-s is only found in 97+ preludes, which is obd-ii... you'll have to convert that over, which isn't that hard, just need a obd-ii adapter kit to obd-i (for the ecu) and rewire the distributor a bit and some other wires... Second, if you find a h22a type-s swap, it'll run you about twice or even more than a standard h22a, compare it... 2500 for a standard h22a pushing 200hp or near 5000 for a h22a type s that pushes barely 20hp more. You could use that extra 2500 for type-s parts and do the conversion yourself (piston, cams, etc.)... If you're dying to have LSD, just have patience and look around for someone that carries a standard 92-95 h22a with lsd trans... they come around ever so often, but expect to pay a little more, like 250-350...

I hope that helps you a bit... good luck!

I think I had a similar problem...however I have a question...what is the difference between the obd1 and 2 ecus like what does the adapter kit have in it.

dunno where u guys are getting this Japan has no OBD ... obd is the ecu type... so yes they do... obd-i and obd-ii have different wiring diagram... the adapter kit is just a small harness that plugs into the obd-ii harness to allow an obd-i ecu to be used...
