Honda Prelude SI 4WS -> VTEC 4WS

I have had my car for almost 2 years now. It started as an SI 4WS. It is now a VTEC 4WS. Only problem is, the 4WS hasnt worked since i got the car. I know it is A LOT of weight to have that 4WS in there so I got two choices, find out whats wrong with it or take it out (weight reduction).

I would rather get it working cus thats one of the reasons I bought the car but I dont know anything about it.

What are some trouble shooting ish i can do to find out the problem? Is there a harness I can jump to get a code from the 4WS ECU?

Peace

The 4WS gives its codes through the CEL. Jump the service connector and the check engine light will flash.

Dont take the 4ws out, not only is it a PITA, but you would have to replace all of the rear suspension parts to convert to a regular rear end. Besides, the whole 4WS system only weighs 66lbs.

If for some reason you do want to get rid of it... I just might want to pick it up from you.

When you jump the service connector, don't look at the CEL, look at the 4WS indicator. Thats the one that blinks. Then put it on the board. I would give you the answer but I am not home for another 2 weeks.

I also have a Vtec Guage that I bought. What I did was I removed the bulb out of my Si guage and put it in the VTEC one. I turned the ignition while looking at the back of the guage and it did it normal couple of flashs and then went out like it is supposed to. I connected a bulb to the terminals of the guage for the light bulb to a bulb for my old alarm for my car. When I turned the ignition on, the bulb worked as if it was in the gauge.

So when I get home from this hell hole I call Saudi Arabia, I will have a friend sauter the two wires to the terminal for the light and hook up a bulb to it.
