What motor do you plan on swapping? J-spec H22A or the Euro-R?

total cost with LSD?
I was quoted over 1000$ originally for the swap. Thats labor Oil and rewiring and most likely belts. I couldnt tell you about shipping. I forget the price for the engine, what is it like 1,850$? Ohh the lsd is more.

I was quoted at a shop to swap out my Si H23 for an H22 $1400 for labor and the other little things they told me about to make the VTEC work. Is this a good price?

Maybe I confused some. What I was talking about was just the labor to do the swap. I would have to buy the engine and tranny seperate.

They are talking about the installation not purchasing the motor.

He does not need a full swap, no need for mounts or axels and there is a few other things he does not need. He needs longblock, trans and ecu.

The price for someone to do the swap was too high, thats why i had to learn to do it myself.

I did it myself, took me and 2 freinds 10 hours to complete the swap and get the new engine started,. and thats in a shop with a lift and airtools and my helms.

anyone with SWAP experiance IN A PROPER SHOP could do it in the same time or less. so figure 11 hours of labor times $60 an hour plus the extras like new 02 sensor, thermostat, timing belt, plugs wires ect $1000 is reasonable $1500 is a bit much

Even doing it yourself you will blow through several hundred dollars in fluids, replaced items, shop supplies, and tools.

I have a shop of my own I could have done the swap in. And instead I pulled the engine in my garage, cause I was too lazy to drive the car down to the shop... (5 min away)

We had the engine out within an hour, no problem...

Tore the engine into pieces (block, head, pistons removed, crank), in about 2 and a half.

After that I had to wait on machine shops and such, but after that when I was ready to put it back together, took about 4 hours to reassemble everything, and get her going again...

I had to buy no tools, as I already previously own all the tools neccasary.

By the way, is the H22 the best option for a swap? I know its getting to be almost old technology by now... Would the K20 or F20 be a better idea for availibility of parts and things like that?

Also, I read in the latest issue of Honda Tuning about swapping a k20 into an older civic or integra and wonder if there was any good swap kits made for the prelude? I mean, I wouldn't guess there is but you never know
