what amp max is the preludes, some of the bigger acuras like the new RL has a 130A alternator max but that doesnt sound like its going to be a direct replacement. Im thinking your best bet is to go aftermarket. And another question for people, if someone gets a higher output alternator wont you lose a few hp, I mean this extra electricity isnt suppose to be free right, it has to come from somewhere

^^ generally, yeah, the larger the alternator, the more power it'll take to spin.

are you sure that you need the larger alternator, if your just running low on juice, using engine wiring kits should help the cars electrical system, i ended up rewiring most of my car because the electrical was pretty bad and it really helped all of my accessories in the long run

Well my thoughts on taking hp to charge, are this, my car won't use more electricity, so demand will stay the same, I just want higher voltage which would have alittle reduction. I have a sound system installed, and times aren't my main goal.

The problem I have is the windows are slow to roll up, not as bad if the car is driving 3000rpm.

I would prefer to use a higher voltage as this would reduce strain on the various motors in the car.

A new battery would help too.

^^ doesn't matter what your car will use, the alternator, physically, is larger, so for every time that belt makes one revolution, it's going to require more power to turn.

Yeah, you sure it's not just your battery? My windows roll up fine, even at idle. Just get an Optima Red Top, and if that's not your problem, you then have a good battery and one less possibility for a culprit.
