I have a 93 h22a1 vtec prelude 5spd. The car engine has 104,000 miles on it. Has received all regualr maintenances. Still seems to run like an angel. My question to you is if I wanted to start gearing up for a turbo (only lookin to do drag's 6psi setup), would i need to start fresh on an entirely new engine with lesser miles? Or would i be able to get away with replacing some parts of my current engine then start going towards FI.
A good buddy/mechanic said i would probably need to replace my rings. Another question I have is, what exactly would i need to replace (minimally) in order to prep the engine for a small turbo. Trying to avoid getting pistons and sleeving, etc if i can get away with it.
if you want to prep your 100+k mile engine for a boost, even just for 6 psi, I'd strongly recommend rebuilding this engine. I.E.: rehoning the cylinder walls, install new oversized pistons and piston rings, make sure your crank and all the bearings on the bottom end are in great shape, ect...
you current engine may last for awhile on 6psi of boost, but you're greatly goig to increase the chance of your rings or ringlands failing with the additional pressure.

With the introduction of new pistons to my engine, would the need to get new sleeves be necessary? Or are you sudgesting I get a set of oversized pistons that are compatiable with my existing FRM sleeves? I'm not to sure as to the piston choices out there and would greatly appretiate everyone's continued assistance.

'Minimally' You'll probably be able to get away with just stock Honda oversized piston heads and rings, and just have your stock cylinder wall/liners bored out a bit for the new pistons and rings... Talk to your mechnic. If your not going to be doing most of the work on the engine itself, then trust what your emchnic tells you.
