High idle while driving

First off this is not "my idle is surging thread"... I have a H22a and I did the swap like 4 years ago. My problem that just started yesterday is while I am driving and put the car in neutral (clutch in or out) the idle will stay at between 2100 - 2800, but once I come to a complete stop the idle will go to 700 and act normal. It does not surge between 2100 - 2800, sometime is neutral it will idle at 2100, sometime when i go into neutral it will idle at 2800, but like I said once I come to a complete stop it idles perfect.

This morning while going to work when it was cold and stalled twice at a light, I got upset and beat on it once I got to an open road and that seemed to fix the problem. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem was so I can do a real fix for it? If something was stuck like the throttle cable or butterfly wouldn't it have some type of messed up idle at stop??

you may just need to let it warm up....or maybe run some kind of cleaner through the throttle body...i use seafoam....it works really well but don't use too much...or you can adjust your idle with a little screw on the intake side of the manifold, but if it's idling fine at a stop then that might not be it...

try not to use seafoam or anything of the like on stuff that you can take apart yourself and clean. It can break up carbon deposits and send them into the combustion chamber where they can possibly bend a valve if it closes on them.

Thanks, I will taking it apart and cleaning it out. I was wondering if there is anything electrical (sensor) that would have an effect on my idle while in motion vs at a dead stop?

If you rev it in neutral, do the RPMs stay high for a while?

At a dead stop it would go right back to 700rpm. If I was driving I could force it to go below 2100rpm by be in a higher gear then needed. So say I would be driving at 1200, once I pushed in the clutch or put it in nuetral it would rise to about 2000.

Check your TPS. I had that issue. The voltage on mine was reading really high with the throttle closed, so the idle was high after letting off the gas. I bet if you unplug the IACV connector your problems will go away
