high compression test #'s for h23

i have 110k on my 92 SI. I finally did a compression test and i got 210psi all across. These numbers seem kinda high but im glad that it is even all across. I did this with a warm/cool engine at WOT and connector removed from the ignition coil & distributor. I do have a little smoke coming out of my exhaust, but thats only after idling for a couple of mins. Can anyone confirm the numbers for a H23? I think helms has it around 178psi for a new engine.

I have a feeling that the compression tester is off.
My friend got 240psi all across on his 94 lude vtec.
this sucks because I just bought the tester new from pepboys.
Thanks for any help.

jesus....

i posted my compression test numbers on here a while ago. I got 175 across the board with 110k on my 93 Si. i heard that 175 is the ideal number for the H23A1. i dont know now though...... 210 is really high. maybe its me...who knows.....

take care,
tim

freakishly high

i had a feeling these numbers were a little extreme. I have no internal engine mods but i might have some carbon buildup.
Is there a flaw in my method? I think im doing it correctly, but it probably all comes down to a bad tester.

Any other H23 owners have some numbers to post?

when I did my compression test I went out and bought a $30 compression tester from NAPA. then i went out to the car, took out all the spark plugs and wires. I then stuck the tester into the cylinder and screwed it down tight. next I got into my car and tried to start it 3 times. i got out and read the guage and it was 175 PSI. same steps were followed for all four cylinders.

did u do your test a different way? i posted the exact steps i followed.

take care,
tim
