HIDs selection

i been contemplating the h4 hid conversion kit. I dont know much about brands and makers. The only one i know of is Xenon Depot, which is based in canada and have kits starting at 450 in the 4300k. Only draw back is they when they Ship to the U.S, customs are really expensive, so i m startin to wonder if they are worth all that money. I could try a retrofit but i m not sure i want to try it on my headlights and risk messin up, cause my headlights are damn near impossible to find, so the conversion should do i think. I m not sure of which to get between 4300k, 5000, 6000 8000 and up.. All i know is the higher the number, the less bright they are, and the more color they have. I have money to spend, but i m wondering if its really worth it, my lighting is pretty nice already, but i want to know what u guy think about it?

here are some outside the cabin light shots of my lights, i dont have a pic of the high beams on since i hardly use them, but u get the idea, so do you guys think its worth upgrading to hids with a conversion kit ? Anyone who has done the conversion kit, what do you have, who makes it, and how is it.

thx for the help.

yea i got euro 2 piece headlights (EDM as some may call it) I have been trying to find a 2nd pair so i can do a retrofit, but they are nowhere to be found. The guy who sold em to me doesnt have access to anymore.

Difference between euros and jdms is euros are 2 piece, non adjustable, and do no have the flaring problem that jdms have. The light pattern on the euros already set, so theres no adjusting that can be done. u can see the pattern on the pic above.

I had H4 8000k HIDs on my JDMs. They're a ice blue color...they look perfect and never got anything but complements on them. I loved them but glare was a big issue for me so I did a retrofit.

I still have the bulbs which I'm gonna be putting up for sale in the next couple of days. They're pretty much brand new in perfect condition with no more than 10hrs of use. Let me know if you'd be interested. They work with the ballasts from Xenon Depot as well as Boehmen (sp.) and McCulloch ballasts.

FYI.....when you put HIDs into any reflector housing you're gonna have glare issues even without the "JDM flare" you know?

Sorry, I've been out of the loop for awhile, but aren't HID illegal now? HID is the one with the ballasts and other stuff right?

It's illegal to change headlights with halogen bulbs to HID. I don't know how well it is enforced though.

Why not just put in your OEM lights and retrofit these?
The only thing I don't get is that you say they cannot be adjusted. If this is true then they will not serve as a good platform for a retrofit. You need a verticle adjustment...they all do. Maybe when you get in there, you will find a blank to cut out that will allow you to get to the adjustment screws.

Then again, if you are retrofitting the lights, just get JDMs for that. You will get adjustability and no worry about JDM flare (you will replace that function).

^^The man has spoken!!! If it weren't for the great range of adjustability on the JDM housings I woulda been screwed on my retrofit.

If you can't adjust the headlights you're gonna be pretty disappointed when you get your HIDs. You're gonna want to aim them as low as possible because you'll be getting high-beamed from everyone cuz of the glare. Glare is still nuts even when you aim the lights all the way down.........and it still sux because the lights will be aimed so low that they'll be of no use to you at night.

Retrofit is the way to go. I don't know how I was able to drive at night without HID retrofit to begin with.
