Just installing an HID kit into your Prelude's stock headlight housings is not a good solution. You're gonna create some extreme glare and cause problems for oncoming traffic. Try searching for "headlight retrofits" and see what you find.

I have an HID kit in my 5th gen but my headlights are pointed way down low to be sure not to blind anyone...blinding hid's are not fun. I've had mine I've gotten on ebay for $50 shipped from a seller named supervtec for about 6 months now no problems. Although retrofitting is a lot more expensive, it looks better and also is not as Dangerous.

^what's the point if they are pointed down low? There is still glare no matter what.

Apparently he doesn't want to see too far ahead of his car at night.

HIDs in a Halogen housing is a terrible idea. Someone thought it was a good idea to put them in my 94 Accord some time before I bought it.... And it sucks. Caused a bunch of problems in the lighting sytem (which I haven't yet solved all of), and the beam pattern is next to useless.

Home - Custom Lightz - The HID Projector Retrofit & Parts Specialist

Some really good info there.

I would strongly encourage a retrofit.

It's simple. You take the headlights off the car, and use a heat gun or an oven to heat up the assembly just enough to make the butyl that holds the lens to the housing soft. Then you gently pry the lens out.

You can get the parts needed for a retrofit for cheap if you just keep your eyes open and know what to look for.

the most common that I use are TSX projectors, cause those are fairly cheap and easy to come by. Also RX projectors are good as well.

Taking the bumper off is child's play. No offense.

Look for TSX headlights for cheap on eBay. I scored two different headlights for about $40 a piece. They came off wrecked cars so the mounting tabs were broken, and the plastic lenses were cracked. Projectors were still fine however.

I did a swap to JDM black housing headlights last weekend.

Not hard at all.

According to the research I've done, while more expensive, the best projector housings to use are those from the S2000 headlights.

But yeah, TSX are considered quite good as well.

While the S2000 projectors produce a very sharp and intense beam of light, it comes at the cost of being large and difficult to work with. They're also some of the most expensive projectors (AP1 S2000's, not AP2). They're also a lowbeam projector, and while that's good enough for most people, some would like a bi-xenon. So to call the S2000 projector the "best", is not terribly accurate. To say it has the "best" output, would be pretty spot on though

Well, let me state, that for my purposes I thought it was the best. I was planning on doing a retrofit with S2000 projectors as lows, and find a bi-xenon for the highs, but swapping out both high and low beams for projectors. At least, that's what I was thinking. That, or using 4x S2000 with 2x aimed as highs. I dunno.

That's farther down the road and I've only really done preliminary research.
