Hesitation in hot weather

My daughter drives a '92 Prelude SI 2.3 with auto trans. Recently, during hot weather in the 90's, she has mentioned the car is hesitating, and idling low when stopping (like at a light). The car runs fine in cooler weather.

One thing I changed over the winter was the thermostat, the car had no heat at all so I replaced it, nad the heat was functioning again.

Anyone have any ideas? As far as I know no codes are active. The car had an emssisions check in March, computer/sensors checked and it passed. I've seached the forum, but could not find any heat/hesitation related issues.

Thanks

Ray

How are the plugs? I had a similar problem when I bought a Miata that had never left Los Angeles to a bad Arkansas winter. Nearly killed the damn thing until I realized the plugs were SHOT.

I'll change the plugs, probably due anyway. I just ordered a set of iridiums from the local auto store, should be in tomorrow. Some more information...at idle is seems to lag, then when starting from a stop it sputters, sometimes stalls. At speed it's running fine. I'll change the air filter while I'm at it.

Thanks

In the past I had a bogging/hesitation problem as well. I've read many ppl changing their O2 and Knock sensor and they fixed their problem. I went ahead and just changed both along with my fuel filter and basic spark plug/wires/cap/rotor as they were in due for a change and the hesitation went away. My symptoms were similar to yours... lags from a dead stop but once speed picked up, it wasn't really noticeable.

Thanks. I'll move on to the wires, distributer, sensors if this does not correct the problem. I need to go back and review the service records (we bought it used) to see what may be due for a change. The only thing I made sure was that the timing belt/water pump was changed at 90k, the car had 104k when we bought it.
