hesitation at 2k revs

Hi guys, first time here so be gentle.
Have a 95 Vtec with 65,000miles on the clock has been no problems and a lot of fun, until yesterday when it started to have a bad hesitation (nearly cut out a couple of times) as I accerelated through 2,000-2,500 revs. Makes no difference what gear I'm in or what accessories are running (air con etc) and the ecm light says everything is ok.

Am going to change the plugs, leads, distributor and rotor at the weekend to see if that cures it but wondered if anyone has had the same symptoms.

Does the car sounds like it's running on fewer than 4 cylinders, shakes or sounds funny it most likely you need to replace spark plugs wires. Also check spark plugs, cap and rotor.

It's always good to have fresh plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc... Make sure you check your timing. I've had this problem and replaced just about everything I can think of and it turned out to be the timing.

definitely sounds like timing or spark issues. tune up and check timing.

Thanx to everyone for their help - I changed plugs, distriburtor cap and leads and the car is cured. The last garage to service it put Champion plugs in car and I dont think they were up to the job.

Was going to change the distributor rotor but couldn't get it off so just cleaned it up instead.
