help on what mods to get

Ok, well i have the DC sport header to the random technologies cat. to the HKS cat. back. Also the AEM cold air intake. Now im wondering on what to get next. I dont know too much in the way of mods to the computer. I am looking at the venom 400. Any information would be good. I also am looking at cams to put in, but i dont know what kind to get, or what else I should do while im in there, like springs or whatever.

Please help me out, and although it may sound like it, i do not have an unlimited budget. My paycheck goes right into my car!

In case you dont remember me i have a 93' Si : 5-speed

Thank You

Well, it all depends on your wants/needs. First, let's look at the needs. Are there any problems with your car, such as clutch, exterior (ie. rust, dents, etc.), interior? If there are, I suggest you fix them first.

Now, to your wants. Do you auto-x? If so, then I'd suggest getting some suspension components installed (ie. springs, struts, braces, etc.) Are you more concerned about looks? If yes, then go ahead and get some rims, a bodykit, jdm 1 piece headlights, whatever. If you like speed, then I'll give you a few more suggestions. First off, DON'T get the venom 400. It sucks. In fact, if you ever plan on going FI (forced induction), I'd suggest NOT doing any ECU mods, simply because of the fact that it advances timing, and you don't want that, especially when dealing with Nitrous.

I'd suggest you get a couple more bolt ons', such as a pullies, cam gears, which are both relatively inexpensive. Then, get yourself a "grabby" clutch, that'll be sure to improve your acceleration DRAMATICALLY. If your tires are in bad shape, a new set of really sticky ones always helps too.

Anyways, I nor anyone else can make this decision for you, but I hope I helped you see the light. Good luck.

There are several companies that make regrinds for the h23, but I'd stay away from those for several reasons.

A head swap or even a complete engine swap is great and all, but you guys' have gotta remember, he says he has a limited budget.

Do suspension work. You will get a lot more fun out of it then having a little more power.

what kind of suspention do you guys recommend? I do go on gravel roads, so only an inch or two would be possible.

Preyluder pretty much summed it up. All that's left imo is pulleys and cam gears. IMO cams are not that bad of an idea as long as you keep the grind conservative. I'm still planning on doing this mod.

Suspension is a very good mod in Lude's too imo. If you do go this route make sure you do struts and springs at the same time. It's more important then you could ever imagine.

Gude, WebCams, and JE are the 3 companies that make regrinds for the h23 I believe.

I live in an area with rough terrain as well, but that doesn't stop me. You actually get used to scraping, and you memorize the spots to avoid.

Are you eventually going to want to show your prelude? If you are, then I suggest getting coilovers, then you can dump your car whenever you want to. All the guys are right, you'll benefit most from a nice suspension setup.

TWO THINGS

Are pulleys, for example the tru-power pulley kit from AEM, hard to install. Also do they make a difference at all

The other thing, im worried about my header heating up the a/c and power steering pump too much. Do you guys know if its hurting these things or are can they take the extra heat?

They are not to hard to put in imo, but you do need to press them.

Dude, don't worry about that. The engine temp would have to be A LOT higher for those components to be affected. If you're really worried about it that much though, I'm sure you could put the heat shield back on.

Remember this will require modification, it doesn't bolt up like it did on the stock manifold.
